running shoes

Hi
I recently bought a pair of new running shoes. Unfortunately, each shoe is 1lb heavier than my previous pair. Will this injure me during my runs? Also, how will be body adapt to the extra weight, ie, will my muscles develop more, or will be joints just hurt more? My running time has definately slowed as a result, so any suggestions in running better in heavier shoes are welcome.

  • Weight isn't a massive factor in injuries (I don't think). So long as they fit well and have all the support/cushioning/flexibility you need, I can't see there being a major problem.

I run in shoes that weight around 70 grams heavier than my lightweights and even heavier compared to spikes. Don't worry about it.
