6 miles without much shinsplint pain yesterday, so training resumes at last, and not a moment too soon.

Will be interesting to see how close I can get to fitness in just 8 weeks. Pretty close, I reckon. Been out for 4 weeks, although run once a week in that time and was very fit before that.

    Thanks for the positives.

I feel a bit of a fraud today, as I feel fine aerobically (better than after a usual LSR).

I’ve achy quads/thighs which normally happens to me if I’ve raced a 10k – but I’ve done nothing other than easy/steady running – which has obviously built me a bit of a base.

I’m impressed that I feel so good today, I certainly don’t feel like I’ve had a hard race. Which must be a positive. Over the next weeks the plan introduces MP pace stuff and intervals etc, this will help me raise the pace. I’ve got about 6 weeks to up my speed.
I reckon I’ve made massive progress (8 weeks ago I did my first 2hr run), but need a bit more.

I coped well enough with the distance, and the first 13 miles were totally comfortable
    - perhaps I did run too slowly (re Pug’s comment).

It was a massive learning experience.

I reckon I could run further at 7m/miles, and could have run faster at 20 miles if I had some faster leg speed. The acid test will be, can I run 26 miles at 6m50’s. Don’t think I’ll be too far away though.

    Was 20 7m miles a better result than the 15 at 6m50 I had planned ?

The good thing is I never pushed myself really hard, so should be able to carry on with the training immediately.

GR - Thanks for taking the time to wait for me and say Hi.

Not gone to ground, just hiding out with Brad Pitt!! Training hard for FLM , still aiming for sub 3 but will accept anything below 3.12. Don't want to be the slowest on here not even once.

GR - I thought the 7th mile was long and the 8th short on both laps. My splits were about 45 secs different on each lap, although I thought I was running at a consistent pace each time.

TR - at this stage I would say 20 7min miles is better than 15 6:50s. Like I said before, on the day those extra 10 secs (or more) will probably come without any additional perceived effort.

    Total 122 miles

Tired? No really ran twice again on Sun (26.5 miles). Expect to snap the 100 again this week, for what good it does me.

Well done to all the Bramley mob. Very respecable times, and to nichs2 who is now faster than me for the HM.

Holly mutha of god DULL, that's an incredible tally, just be sure to watch it though mate, blimey, that's exceptional running... man, it's inspiring to be honest with you, so I'll be doing something this week again, another 100+ myself... as legs feel fine...

TR Was 20 7m miles a better result than the 15 at 6m50 I had planned ? As regards this, the 20 x 7:00 m/m is 100% better than the 15... 20 miles at race pace is hard, 15 miles isn't... proving a damn thing, as you'd still have 11 mile to go in a marathon... we can all run quick over halfs, everyone on here is sub 1:30... it's doing 20's that's the important one, and now gives you the confidence, that you can at the bare minimum, carry on at that pace for another few mile, possibly to the end. Like I said earlier, the only thing you eed to worry about now is "INCREASING SPEED" for 6:50's now...

Just wanted to bring this back up

Do I get to claim the first sub3 of 2007 ?

Barry 40 is in 13 days and I will probably try to run close to 3hrs for the marathon split again.

Also confirming that Abingdon will be my 1 "fast" marathon this year

Well done to those who managed a quick Bramley at the weekend.

I'm still maintaining my training at 5 days a week around 55 to 60 mpw. Covered a new Geewok record of 22 miles yesterday in 2:34, very peased, tired a little over the last 20 mins but otherwise no issues at all. Stamina and endurance are improving steadily, I don't see any need to get my miles above 60pw for my target 2:50 - 2:55 at london.

Races coming up for me - 10km this Sat, National XC next Sat, and Finchley 20m week after... then its nearly taper time.

    Pug,

I'm happy to be feeling fine aerobically, My quads are just sore from running faster than I'm used to (even at 7m/miles !!).

The fact that I'm feeling ok, gives me hope that I can achieve more, when I give myself a good beasting in April and can throw in the kitchen sink too !

    CM,

I mean I don't feel tired or like I raced hard, just slightly sore legs. I thought I would be fatigued today - perhaps I'm just used to it now.

See how I feel after an easy run tonight.

Back on the PJ's tonight too!

I need a big push for another 6 weeks. Sub 3 is still longshot or at best borderline, so need to bang on with the training, All the MP stuff is coming up soon.

DanA - what was your race number - I need to check out these calves for myself ?

Snap!- sub 2:50 off the gfa start - that's the plan anyway...

Ran the Gade Valley Harriers '17' yesterday - muddy along the canal and hilly course. Had a good group to work with and averaged 6:24 miling - not bad after 2/3rds of a bottle of Wolf Blass Yellow Label (14%!)the night before.

Still not getting in more than 2 runs a week - not sure whether to try and increase it or stick with my current training and hope for the best.
