howdy folks, i want to start a thread to get my running chum Booders back into the running game permanently, by way of a massive conglomerate of support on this forum and through posting on the guest book of our site

The bood has some good pbs to his name, such as 42m 10k, 19.31 5k, 31.45ish mins 5miles, but tends to do his running in peaks and troughs.

Dig your trainers out and go for a short one.
(Maybe wait till the torrential rain has eased off to the usual British summer downpour!!)
My mate Pug is the one who keeps me coming back, I'm very much a peaks and troughs runner myself and was once a little faster than the Pugster but now he makes me look really bad, but I don't mind, he's worked really hard to get where he is, respect due.
If he can do it and I'll do it this time Booders can surely do it, theres a nice sub 40 10k out there just waitng to be done.

5 races in 4 weeks coming up...things getting popular waaah
As some encouragement I would add the following:
I did my first race on sunday in over 12 years after a long period of lethargy and injury. It was a 10k my time was about 15minutes slowler than at my peak and I still ache today. Yet along with those aches is the grin on my face. I loved every painful minute of it and am looking forward to my next one (a 1/2 marathon in October).
I loved the feeling of doing something just for me. I loved the odd snippet of chat during the race. The guy double checking I was okay when the grimace on my face suggested I may have been dying. The guy who I returned the favour to in the last half a mile when he was coughing up all sorts of gunk who then said thanks as he summoned up a sprint finish in the last 50 metres.
I may have tweaked a calf muscle and caused a flare up in an old foot injury (the one that stopped me running in 1996) but I am addicted again and just as soon as I can walk properly again i will be back on the roads and looking for another race.
That experience is why I run, and why I would encourage any and everyone to join in.
