M SAS - i dont know what time i'm looking at really but i know i could be in for a really good time, where do i find out (if anywhere) what a good time for age i.e.43yrs old (44 after Oct) would be?
M SAS - just seen on a bbc website that if you can prove you've run 2 full mara's anywhere you can get an auto entry, well thats interesting as this years Mabo will be my 4th altho 2 are unofficial cos not measured due to terrain BUT with Mabo being my 2nd official full mara i may be in for a chance of london 08 well i'll have to see
M sas, I reckon i'm in a pretty similar boat to you. I'm also looking for a sub 3hr time to get me into London next year (not sure if i'll manage it to be fair) and I also need to start doing some more long runs. I've only run a couple of 14 milers so far and lost a week due to an injury sustained whilst playing 5-a-side.
Up until a couple of weeks ago I had been managing around 45-50 miles a week but like I say 0 last week due to injury and have done 25 so far this week with tomorrow to come. I know the benefit of the long run so really need to think about stepping up to at least 18 miles in the next week or so.
I will also be looking to stop overnight for maybe a couple of days, maybe just me, hopefully my wife and 6 month old daughter aswell but will look to sort that nearer the time. Got to dedicate myself to getting the miles in 1st!
Scam - good luck wish i could be there but i'll be at work
NDO - cheers for that info but i dont think 3.15 is in my range at the moment altho this (MABO) will be my 4th marathon and i'm getting faster so you never know BUT just checked with Garmin VP and that time would mean 7.26/ml so that'll be a know and when you look at how many peeps pull out it makes you wonder how they get to start but hey ho if not London there's a cracker in scotland on the same day and is suppossed to be friendlier so i'll see as i love scottyland as i got married at Gretna 7years ago, i'll also finish a marathon so organisers will lose out not me
NDO I’m currently doing 40-45 miles per week, longest run at the moment is about 16miles, which I did on Saturday, which really hurt!
Gravesylad maybe we will see each other during the race, I’ll be wearing my club vest: black and white squares in opposite corners. Good luck with the sub 3 attempt, I was on for it at 18 miles on the last one, then blew up spectacularly and finished in 3:18. had problems with the nutrition side so hopefully will get that right this time
Nope, no marathons ever again. I swore I wouldn't do anymore after last year - I changed my mind, but after yesterday I've changed my mind again....droppping back to the half marathon due to old age...but never say never...
Michael SAS - I know the blowing up feeling well. I would start getting in the +20 mile runs asap, as they are the ones that really count. I did a lot more +20 runs on my last attempt and staved off the 'blow up' point to 23 miles!
I am surprised that so few people got under 3 hours looking at last year's times; maybe the conditions were just too hot.

note to self: I really must start doing some longer runs
M Sas - Good luck with the sub 3 attempt. How many miles per week are you doing at the moment and how far are you going on your longest runs?
