Hiya RB, you were out of season for haggis. The date is 21st september and even then you have got to spend 3nts in the hills in a tent with a stranger of the opposite sex or they don't come out.....it's tradition!!!
we are all really excited here about the marathon and the other races on the day. just less than 12 weeks now and counting but still so much to do on the organisation end but it is coming together nicely.................WE CAN'T WAIT!! TO SEE YOU ALL
Michael SAS - Sorry for the slow response. Yes, I have done a couple of 22 milers and 3 x 20 miles. I plan to continue them until 3 weeks before the race.
I wouldn't delay, as you would need to be an exceptional runners to go sub 3 hours without a couple of 20 milers under your belt.
Haggus - you little star xxx I'll pass it on to him, i'll email his user name and real name so you know its him he used to be local (lincolnshire) and has just got back into running bless ya
training going well and gonna try a 21 miler tomorrow (2x my 10.50miler) done a few 15.50 x country runs so I'm looking forward to a long road run other than a half mara
did a 21mile training run today and almost got a lesson in not having enough fluids with me but survived it just with a time of 3hrs 19mins 51secs, if I can maintain the same pace (or faster) i will slaughter my MABO PB and IF i can up the pace a bit I mat even get under 4hours BUT for now my targets are 1.beat last years time (which i will do) 2.beat my Sea Bank Mara time (which is on the cards) so anything better than those 2 targets will be a massive bonus so I'm not gonna change my original targets now
NDO there's nothing major and its as Scam says and what inclines there are your soon an the way down the other side to make up for it, Lincolnshire is flat apart from the Wolds and MABO is on the edge of the Wolds, this is a great full mara route
Scamlamb/ Wicked D - Thanks fellas. I appreciate it.
Training progressing well; fingers crossed that there are no injuries and no wind/ excessive heat/ rain on the day. Sounds like something Calsberg might be able to fix...if they did marathons!
Hi folks. I thought it was time I checked in on this thread. Training has been ok; I managed 22 miles this morning and don't feel too bad, so I'm really hopeful I'll get to the start line; it's only 7 weeks away.
What is the drinks situation? Is it just water that's provided? Is the water in bottles; if so, do they have lids or spouts?
hi cloudburst. water is provided but if you like you can add your own drink to the table but just make sure it is labeled with your number on it. you will need to get someone to deliver it to the drink station though. the water provided is bottled - 500ml bottles. we are trying to get the bottles with the spouts but if not there will be volunteers onhand to undo the lids on them so we will make sure you don't go thirsty. regards tricia..press and publicity offer. mabo marathon x
well done on the training by the way. 22miles at this stage is absolutely brilliant
Water is fine for me. However, if you can't get the spout bottles, please make sure you leave some bottles with the lids on: I tend to drink sips over a few hundred yards, and without a lid all the water sloshes out!
Oh S"&t someone just said its 7 weeks to go? Just struggled to the 15 mile,s myself last saturday, going to try again this saturday, I thinks I went to fast????
Great news that water is bottled, I know that this is more expensive but I just cant see how runners can drink from cups?

Not doing it this year, as doing the Vitruvian triathlon the day before. If I can still walk, I might come and give you all a cheer.
Training going really well at the mo.
Sounds daft but enjoying long runs at the weekends!!
