I'm doing it. It is nowhere near the Victory ship - I believe the name is from the original race sponsor - but it is not too great a trek to get into Portsmouth to look at docks, spinnaker tower, southsea beach, etc.
Does anyone know if there is actually on the day entry to this? Thinking of doing the race but hoping for under 25 minutes but i think its going to be windy so not sure if its worth the trip? Be a good race to do though?
Hey thanks for your response. I tried to ring the race director, but no answer. VERY tempted, but dont want to travel all the way from essex to then be told the limit on entries. Going to keep trying but hoping to make it tomorrow. Hoping not sooo windy though!
Yeah im in Southampton and the weathers not too bad here, so guess we'll have to wait and see...this is my last race leading up to Xmas so not really thinking too much about being competitive..25mins is bloody good! Anyway hope you can make it!
Managed to just make the start line in time due to poor driving conditions and not leaving on time. No warm up or stetching! Enjoyed the race itself.. .thought it was well organised and for my 1st 5 mile road race i was impressed with the organisation and friendly people! Never ran in wind like that before! Not sure where i finished was top 8 i think, looked at watch at 4 miles and was on 19.52, but the last mile into that wind made me come to a practical stand still! I hope everyone had a good run!
Wowweeee! Ross that's fast!! I have to admit I did think about you when I got there and told my running buddie that I spoke to a guy from Essex and was like..ahhh weather seems ok - see you there! and the weather was terrible! If the race was 1hr earlier there's no way I could have done it. I was soaked before I got there and that wind! I wasn't so much running forward than running sideways
Yeah but the last mile was terrible drifted off the lead pack of mike east etc, and found it a struggle over the last mile! How did you get on? did you enjoy it.
How did I get on? lol mate you were showered, in the car, halfway home before I finished I was hoping for 40mins, but took me 45..sprinted to the finish. I thought it was ok..I mean weather wasn't great, but I think hearing other peoples views on Victory 5 it's quite often bad weather. I could have done with eating more before the race too - felt a bit low on energy, but made the pub lunch after more worthwhile..

We are doing it for the first time. Not too sure where it goes past though. Judging by past reviews. I expect it to be very windy.
Oh blimey, have you seen the forecast??
Ah well, good to blow the cobwebs out...
Yeah I am doing this tomorrow - only my 3rd ever race - done 2 great south runs.
no real training but hoping to go round in 45 mins or under - does this mean I will be last lol ?
Youll be mid pack with that sort of time PompeyFC
The weather doesnt look good for tomorrow..................... its been foul here in Andover.

Glad it wasn't a wasted journey for you!
I got round in 51 min - a PB for me.
The great thing about this race was that I found myself running with the same people as at the Gosport Half and we helped each other stay motivated.
The wind was bad, but at least it stayed dry for us.
