thanks for that - there's a few to try. I like lucozade sport drink so I might try that gel first. Are gels better than just energy drinks? At what time in a long run do you recommend taking one? We're currently up to 1 hour 40 mins but are to be doing half marathon distance in the next few weeks.
i started using them for races with drink stations.. since you'll usually not know what to expect other than water.
i tend to take them for anything over an hour somewhere mid run for a bit of a boost. At stratford marathon i took them once an hour ish spproaching a water station.
there's no science in these comments it's just what i tend to do.
M - be sure to take some water with the gels or pretty much guaranteed stomach cramps in my experience...I gave up on them and now have things like Joosters, Jelly Babies, Opal Fruits etc...far more enjoyable...
