So, who's up for this one then? I did it last year, and can vouch, it's flat and quick (as long as it's not windy like last year on the 10 mile back!)...
I'll be there, just filled in my application form... time to kick some 20 mile @ss
fantastic race this one, would love to do it again this year but living in Belfast now kinda rules it out for me. Long hard races on a sunday and 5am starts on a monday to get back to work are not the best!
i like 20m races its just a shame they are only in the spring, potential organisers take note a 20 late august early september wopuld be perfect for the autum marathon season.
oh yes, two trimpell 20s would be fab. It always gets me that there are none in the autumn. mind you, you should try living in Ireland, there are none over here! longer distance races are few and far between, apart from in march when we have larne and omagh halves on consecutive wends!
Just discovered this thread - I'm in. This will be my first 20 mile race so I guess its a guaranteed PB. Like most, it seems, I'm using this as marathon build-up and its got to be easier than the 20 miles I ran among the South Lakes hills yesterday.
Am I right in assuming that it runs basically inland from Morcambe, through Lancaster and following the route of the Lancaster half out towards Caton before essentially doubling back on itself?
The photos for the race are now online and available for download! I got 3 very different shots as runners came from 3 different directions around the millennium bridge. Great lighting as well yesterday so please check them out.
To find your photos either type in your race number into the search box and your photos should pop up. However not all numbers could be seen so you may also want to check out the folders on the left of the page. These are organised into the time when you passed the various mile markers. It'll make more sense when you go to the page...
This race being my first 20 mile event made me realise the huge step up a 20 miler is from a half marathon by the 15/16 mile point i was shot to pieces, though the encouragment from the marshalls (especially the jelly babies ) made it feel at least doable by the time the last couple of miles were in my sights.
At the end of the day though i was runnin 10miles in 1:15 -> makes me think with some more trainin around 2hr 40 is within my ability.
And on a personal level it was a unique experience wearing number 1, at least it means i didnt finish behind anyone with a lower number
Thanks again to the organisers, fellow runners, and the photographers. A great race in great scenery and ive raised around 150 quid for the national autistic society too
Great photos - thanks for that. My wife has commented on the amazing change in expression on my face at 17 miles before and after I spotted the camera!
Enjoyed the day - even the headwind for the last three miles - and have now set myself a challenging target if I ever race 20 miles again. Thanks to everybody involved with the organisation/marshalling etc.

Well, it's perfect buildup matey for a marathon... and it's flat so, it'll set you up for Paris as Paris is like a running track, I did it in 2005.

I imagine they will be on ukresults.net soon...I know that I won in 1.52.15 though
Good race, well organised. Potentially a very fast course although the strong winds slowed things a bit today.

A big well done to those who were still smiling by the 17 mile point!
