Sorry if this has been asked before - but what time do I need to be at the start? Any suggestions how long I need to allow for the portaloo and baggage drop-off.
That's cos it doesn't say 1.5hrs b4, it was WA that said that. And he's welsh so take that with a pinch of salt. I suggest your take a tent and camp in the park overnight to make sure your not late and your guaranteed to get a place in the queue a portaloo.
I can feel your panic Sore Toes, even if nobody else wants to be sympathetic!!
When you get there is, genuinely based around being there for 9.45. But it's making sure you will DEFINITELY bethere when the gun goes off.
If you're driving, allow for road closures and having to get out and follow loads of people with bags. If on the train, allow for missing the train as everyone pushed in front!
Once there - if you're female (couldn't tell by picture!) you have to queue regardless for the loo's. If you're male, its all in a big tent for 1's and with the ladies (in a manner of speaking!) for 2's!!
You need to find the right TNT lorry for your bag, and know which pen you're going in. And how long it will take to get changed, if you need to do that.
I'm aiming to get there for around 9am. That allows 17 toilet visits (as a man with simple needs!), kit on the lorry, into my shorts and soak up the atmosphere.
But it really is better to be safe than sorry - it depends on how confident you are at getting to the start on time.

Before the hooter goes @ 9:45. It's all in the marathon news mag. If I were you I would get there about 1.5 hours before.
Thanks Welsh Alex
PS - I have read the mag from cover to cover but didn't see 1.5hrs anywhere!

Good Luck!
Thanks Cable - if all goes to plan I'll be there about 8.30, if not then on the next train (15 mins later?) - still time to queue for the loos!
I've done my panicking and have submitted to a resigned feeling of calm (for now!)
Or you could spend that whole hour in a portoloo just to be safe!!!
Might upset the people queueing outside though.
you're not there already? OMG you are SO going to miss the start !! get thyself on a train this instant
