I dont race, I only run. Well run and walk and shuffle
I still havent ever even done this far
Two months ago I wimped out of a 4.5mile walk because I didnt think I would manage it
Nam - noone can make that decision for you, I can tell you whatthe "recommended" answer would probably be to that, but that would make me a hypocrite, because I dont always stick to "recommended" options.... Bear in mind how crap you have been feeling and the amount of different stresses your body has been under over the last couple of weeks. I would say, however, dont make a decision to run tonight!!
Hmm well I am a trained first aider but dont wanna put my skills to the test! See how you go in the next few days Nam. We'll always have the Ty Hafan 5K in a few weeks time
Barking well done on your 4.5 miles the other day.
I'm still gonna be a wimp and not do Porthkerry I think. Am opting for a LSR on Saturday morning instead.
Oh and i'm scared about what Rio has in store for us on Monday!! More speedwork no doubt....
PJ, were you still interested in marshalling? I'll be there from 8 onwards to set up, but am marshalling in the top field (up the climb on the right of the road just before the little car park under the bridge). If you want to meet up, email your mobile and I'll give you a ring 9.30ish.
Che sure i'll help out...not been a marshall or anything before so you'll have to give me some tips! Am working late the night before so wont be able to get there till 9.30 or so...is that ok?
I saw your posts about being a med student...are you training to be a Doctor? I come from a big line of medical peeps in my family. Think I can safely say I have broken that mould in more ways than one
PJ... you stand there, make sure we don't run in the wrong direction by helpfully pointing the way, and clapping and trying to think of something encouraging to say such as "only 4 miles left" and "pick up your feet!"...
PJ - point me in the right direction....that will be an improvment on some places in the past where I have had to ask which way to turn....it really stresses Nam out and she says really witty sarcastic comments to them Me, I can just about pant something along the lines of "way....plsssseee"
Yah Im afraid I am, for me sins. Noone in my family is tho! "more ways than one" - whats wrong with that?
lol nothing Barking. My Dad is a doctor, my Mum was a Nurse and my Nan used to be a scary old-school Matron, oh and my Uncle does cross matching on bloods etc etc.
OK I shall get my best pointy finger ready. I know it's only a shorter race but do either of you want any mini treats to sustain you?
Old school Matrons are well scary! So are a lot of nurses. I make tea In Cardiff?
Pointy finger is good. You may also want lots of jumpers and a woolly hat if you are going to be stuck on the course for as long as it takes me to finish!
OOooo sweeties......yum......thats a nice idea....wlthough maybe I shouldnt as I havent ever tried eating while running. Although I did manage to eat a couple of jaffa cakes and drink some water immediately pre-run last weekend. Hmm. Will think about it and maybe try again between now and then - dont want to end up bent double with an almoghty stitch
hmm lucozade. thats a thought. Havent tried running on that either, but used to walk with it. Maybe I should try that instead
Never really liked jelly babies. Was very worried at FLM that I was going to have to start liking them in order to ever get classed as a "runner" lol (although it did mean I was able to hand out without eating them all chortle!)
Nam me dear you sound like you had already made your decsion???
Hi PJ, I'll be at about 3 1/2 miles in, though probably near the start at 9.30 still. As Nam says, point people in the right direction and think of something encouraging to say! It'll be half a mile after the second climb so people might even smile at you!
PJ - you dont seem to have email enabled on here lol - although I am probably doing it wrong. If you find Nam, you will find me, as I am on her contacts. Havent been on FB in ages, really should check nothing on there I need to deal with! They seem to use it for lots of stuff about uni events etc
That reminds me, I need my chequebook tommorrow - I have been talked into attending the graduation ball - apparently I am not allowed to wear jeans for it either
Comments
Today is the first time I left the house in about 5 days and still on antibiotics.
Feeling a bit better.
Suggested to a few people that I may still run this (as opposed to 'race') on Sunday, but most people are telling me to get real...
If I took it really gently? Don't care if I come last...
