Clashes with my honeymoon. I have already negotiated an early return so I can run the GNR. I'm told a successful marriage is built on compromise (must have been where I went wrong the 1st time)! Don't think I can push it any further!!
Ashley- you may regret your target time for lake vyrnwy, but i've done the same. I ran the GNR in 2007 with a time of 1:31 on a course which is downhill. So setting a target time of 1:25 in my diary for lake vyrnwy could be suicide.
your kind of right, im 2o and all my school life ive been a track and field athlete. since then ive not done anything but since the new year ive turned a leaf running mostly every day. 5 weeks on i ran my first half. and set my goals on under 1:20 by the end of the year. im very competitive and take everything i do serious. i know its a huge goal in my first year of running distance but i truely think its a possible goal.
Cap66 - i know its a big goal but eith the plan of running i have coming up i think i may have that goal before then. but who knows. im still learning the in's and outs of distance running, like what to eat . . what to drink (and during event) but im a quick learner =D
Ashley- I have learnt what to eat and drink and that is whatever i like. Yes this may lead to slower times, but i enjoy my food more. It is not until 2 days before an event that i think about what i'm eating.
but like you said there it may lead to a slower time, im like to take it serious, not because im obsesive or anything but because i enjoy being the best at what i do. what time are you looking at cap66 ?
Thanks for the tip off- didn't realise entries were open - did this in 2005 so hoping to beat time set then (ahem 2hr 15ish). Should be in better shape as ran when I was unwell.
I can vouch for it being a really nice run- except our car keys were locked in the car by mistake and we had to wait around for hours at the end to be rescued!!
I do take it seriously, but i have a child who is a fussy eater and a wife who works shifts. I can't expect them to eat what i do all the time. I do generally eat healthy, but we have pizzas, mcdonalds etc. it's just a balancing act.
there's a hill in mile 1 as you climb up to the Dam. Same hill you run down in Mile 12-13 on your way back to the village my guess is the race will sell out by June, it became very popular due to the sterling efforts of the late great Doug Morris, and Im sure he will be smiling down on the runners on race day !!
As Alan says, the climb up to the dam stops you setting off too fast, and it makes a brilliant eyeballs out final mile. It may be my imagination, but from the dam to the far end of the lake feels slightly downhill, on balance, while the return feels slightly uphill.

Forms are here
Cracking race - bit like Coniston without the hills
Ran some of my best HMs here - and haven't ruled out a return!
I'm in... fantastic race this is!
Cheers Pug
Oy !
Don't publicise the fact, I haven't sent my form off yet.
Although I fancy the Anglesey Marathon the week after so I'm not too sure I will be able to do both.
Great place for a run though.
I sent mine today
Oooooooooooooooooooohhhhh !!!
Dog has cost me £500 at the vets this week.
Can I afford to enter this and Anglesey ?
YES
Cheers Pug
Oh Feck it !
I'm in.
Now I have to decide whether to do Anglesey Marathon or New Forest Marathon.
I've just filled form out, just need a stamp... and I'm in
Cheers Pug

I had a shocker in 2007 - over 3 hrs.
My worst ever race.
Aiming for around 2:00 - 2:10 this time.
Under 1:40 in only your second half ???
I'm guessng you have some sort of affliction ?
Possibly Youth or Latent Talent.
Possibly both.
I wish I could get under 2hrs

you have to run under 2:00 this year OR ELSE hehe
Ashley- I hope for 1:25.

It wasn't me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Def hope for a time under 2hrs.
One I may well do.
Does this race sell out fast? Due to work commitments may need to rearrange my diary.
I fancy this one as my second ever half having done GNR 2008 in 2.21
Will hope to improve on that time with better preparation.
I've been told it's a really good event so i'll have to fill the form in and commit myself to getting in gear.

It is a great course.
