Thanks. Guess it is common sense but just want to make sure I get everything right. Have entered 2 previsuos half mathons and never made it to the staritng line due to injury.
How about a vest top with a lightweight long sleeved one over the top? You can take this off and tie round your waist when you warm up - I did this on a warm half marathon on Sunday and it was fine, not at all cumbersome. Edinburgh tends to be a bit windy and chilly! Good luck
In a race that isn't too cold I would go for a vest, I don't wear a vest at any other time but racing and it makes me feel faster and my arms move easier
All winter i have been wearing baselayer, tights etc but last Saturday it was warm enough to go out in my vest and shorts and man did it feel good! On race day it has to be vest and shorts
Unless it's freezing, short sleeve top, you'll be too warm after a mile or two. First run of the year in shorts and t-shirt at the weekend. Lovely. Freezing again this weekend probably.
A personal decision, but I always wear a vest and shorts for races, regardless of the weather. Well, I have occasionally worn a short-sleeved tee, but would never wear a jacket or leggings, or even long sleeved shirt. It's true that in the first mile of a race I sometimes envy people wearing jackets, but once into the second mile, when they are starting to take things off and look very uncomfortable, I know I've made the right decision.

If you were too hot today, wear less
