Can't speak for Englanders but the Home Office's overly-draconian immigration policy looks set to have a damaging effect on the Scottish fishing industry where foreign labour is very welcome, due to their hard-working diligence and an absence of interest amongst the indigenous population:
I have a friend who voted BNP and trotted out the same crap 'flooded', 'swamped'.....he must have met the only ethnic minority in south lanarkshire
though I am not an SNP supporter and am happy to continue as part of the Union but one advantage of an independent Scotland would be that we could arrange our own immigration policy because economic migrants are more than welcome here, whereas they seem to be less so in the more heavily-populated south.
I've applied for a lecturing job at the University of Aberdeen; interview end of July - I hope they let me over the border (If the Tories get in I'll be claiming political asylum!)
If Tories get in I will move to Scotland I think-lol Worked in Glasgow some years ago-was cold but reckon England will be colder under the Tories or BNP-lol
I'd advocate a fully independent Scotland, just as long as they don't continue to get a huge handout out every year from Westminster. Friend of mine works in the oil/gas game. Worked in Aberdeen a few years ago, most inhospitable place for an englishman he's ever been to , and if you think of some of the places they extract gas/oil around the world then that is some honour.
no that's why I don't advocate independence yet. I like the huge handout. we are smart that way. when the money stops, we'll be offski don't worry mate. we know when we're not wanted
incidentally, perhaps they just didn't like your mate?
Ha, ha - possibly Dude, if he wasn't the only one.... Standing joke apparently in his sector that you choose the tour of the middle east (Iraq / Iran ) ahead of Aberdeen! As for not being wanted, still remember my scottish work colleagues wearing Argentina shirts in the World Cup....
