Becksr1, genuinely sorry you are having to pull out, (but hopefully at least you have not done a lot of marathon specific training yet).  Really happy about offer of a place though!!!image
I will email you so we can confirm things and sort out details and then contact the race organisers.  Thankyou SO MUCH!!!

  • AeschylusAeschylus ✭✭✭
Ok, I don't think your RW email is enabled Becksr1.  Could you please email me through RW asap, or enable your email function?
    Thanks once again!
  • Runner bean, congratulations. Sorry to hear Becksr1 has had to pull out but this is why this thread was set up.2down 60 ish to goimage.

Not that I want people to get injured though.
  • Hi gang, back in the saddle now, went to bro in laws funeral on monday, very tough day but also very uplifting to see so many people paying their respects to a wonderful man.

As I said on the main thread runnerbean, if you and becksr1 want to send me the details i'll be happy to forward them on but no worries if you've done direct already. Becksr1 you just need to have a look at page 4 for the details you need to send, any probs either of you give me a ring/text on 07957 431189

    cheers

  • Runner-bean, you should have mail image
  • Hi beders, welcome back mate.
  • AeschylusAeschylus ✭✭✭

    Hi Beders!

Glad the funeral went ok, though I'm sure you will all feel very sad for a very long time.

Am in email contact with Becks, sorting out details.  Will give you a shout though if we get stuck.  Otherwise will post on here when number swap is complete.  Thanks so much for your help.   I'm so excited I have a place!!! image

  • Hi fast legs, ready and willing to run again, just need to get a back pain sorted out and I can actually get out there !! Have only done 2 short jogs in the last 10 days, the least running I've done in 12 years but hopefully the next visit to the osteopath tomorrow will get me well back on the running trial, plenty of time till october !

    great stuff runnerbean !

    cheers

    beders

  • just realised I hadn't  said thank you so much for all the kind words about my brother in law, many apologies for not mentioning it before, I'm afraid I'm still a bit out nof sorts, they were all very much appreciated, it makes it a bit easier knowing there is a lot of decent people out there, thank you again

    beders

  • Hi beders, how did you get off with the osteopath? hope you had some good news.
  • May I please be added to the list - thanks, Jimbob.

  • well it wasn't sciatica fast legs, seemed I've just pulled a muscle at the bottom of my back on the left side and as I've just kept running it's locked the whole of the bottom of my back on that side hence the very tight left calf and back of thigh. The osteopath ragged me about for an hour on thursday , couldn't get out of bed or sit down the next morning ! but it then eased and I've managed a couple of 3 mile jogs without the calf getting worse. Had another session monday afternoon and again couldn't sit down after but managed another jog yesterday . Sat here at the moment with a left buttock that's still pretty damm sore but the left leg is feeling a lot better so hopefully one or two more sessions and I'll be back out there properly instead of these 3 mile jogs !! Still plenty of time to get back up to 26.2 miles before October. Hows the running with you ? enjoying all this sun !

    cheers

    beders

ps have you noticed how runners love to discuss their injuries at the drop of a hat...who ? moi ???

  • AeschylusAeschylus ✭✭✭

How fitting, Post 200 to celebrate I have just received an email from Tracey, confirming my number swap for Abingdon.  I'm in:  Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, Beders, I've definitely noticed that tendency, and I fear I'm one of the worst offenders.  I spent £40 on physio this Mon on a calf niggle, which she reckons is pain referred from my back.  After pulling out of my last two marathons due to injury, I am SOOOOO hoping to make it to the start line this time.
Thanks so much Beders and Becksr1 for your help in this!image

  • Hi beders, hope you get it sorted out soon. I know what you mean about keeping on running on injuries. I have a torn ligament at the top of my hamstring and I've run through London on it and a few more daft races after it. Finally went to see my physio last night and had him to brake down the scare tissue that has built up on it. Felt much better after he had peeled me off the ceiling! I can still run on it but need to take more rest days and have more treatment on it. And take it easyimage.

Your right we do go on a bit don't weimageimage..

  • Congratulations Runner-bean. 2 down 5 to go for me.

Still makes me feel bad though! that I only get a place if some one gets injuredimage.

  • Nice one Runner bean, not long to go fast legs, as you say a shame that someone has to get injured for you to get a number but I'm sure the doner is happy it's not wasted

running a marathon with a broken leg ? perfectly normal !!

  • Runner-bean... cheque received, thank you and enjoy, I hope the injurys hold off for you.

Thanks for organising this beders, fantastic idea and so much better than places just not getting used.

Good luck to all on the list, hope you get your places.

  • I'm really sad to have missed out on this run.  I was hoping to run my first marathon in the town I was born in.  I don't want to wait until next year so if anyone could help me out I would be really grateful.  Also I've got alot of mad autie's who still live in the area and would come and support everyone!!

  • would you believe it, went for my first run yesterday since the previous tuesday, (5 day gap arghhhhhh) , left leg and buttock feeling a lot better, 2 miles into a planned 4 miler running across ilkley park i tripped over a metal loop hidden in the grass....no problem, did my forward roll and straight back onto my feet cursing the inconsiderate so and so who'd left the hidden snare. No harm done However a few minutes later running along an overgrown track I've run along hundreds of times, my foot caught a rock hidden by the greenary and over I went again. Have only ever fallen twice in a run on a couple of hard core fell races,  NEVER on a 4 mile jog and yep, by the time i got back to the gym I'd got a nagging pain all the way across the left buttock and down my leg. Could hardly sit down this morning although it has eased off a lot now but blxxdy typical,...sigh ! ah well, plenty of time till october, and even if worst comes to worst i know my number won't go to waste !!

no probs Becksr 1, hope you're ok for next year

    cheers

    beders

  • Hi beders, that's some real bad luck your having there mate. Take things easy for a while and you'll soon be back on your feet. Like you say, there's loads of time yet.

Raced on Sunday at the Llanelli 10k, first race after seeing physio. Did better that I thought I would 39:22. Very happy with that as I havent done much training for it and Leg is still giving my grief.
