that do??
shall i start?
our club 10k is 4th october - it's run on some of the course the rowheath 5k is on - plus a bit more obviously
it's more off road than you would expect as there is a river and a few parks round there
i will be putting the link up for entry tomorrow probably as the meeting is tonight to discuss it
Comments
shifnal????
hippo - do you know it has a tunnel?? woooooooooo
and hence i will not be there
i suspect we are negotiating with the met office - it p*ssed down lst year
we will be doing training runs from our club nearer the time if you or anyone else is interested - i will let you know
the route goes almost past our club house
*waves back to Basil*
I'm trying to decide whether I am stupid enough to do the Wolverhampton Marathon as well.....
Hi folks, just found your thread, Lurks. How did you do last night? Didn't see you finish this time.
Any idea when results (Rowheath 5k) will be posted? I managed to start and stop my watch in one movement, so I apparently finished in 1 second!
Well done Chris M, if you're lurking - good to have a little 'race within a race' - had a feeling you were gong to get me on the run in, as I knew I had very little sprint in me!
W Mids races coming up for me: Race4Life this Sunday in Sutton Park, Rowheath 5k race 3, 13th Aug, probably Lichfield 10k 6th Sep (actually, that's not WMids, is it? never mind), B'ham half 11th Oct, probably Cov half 25th Oct, possibly Shakespeare Raceway 10k 21st Nov. Sneyd 10M if it's on, though from what I've heard it won't be.
I'll have a think about the Leafy 10k, but it's a week before B'ham Half. Then again, if I decide I can do Lichfield 10k a week before Robin Hood mara...
Just a thought, but if like me you are a relative newbie, you may be interested in something a little less formal than those races mentioned above. On October 11th the On Your Marks for Little Hearts 10K is being held at Shugborough Hall (Stafford). I'm certainly going to have a crack at it - so if you see an 'ole timer plodding along at the back, wave and cheerp me on
D
Still places available at the Wyre Forest Half on Sunday.
West Bromwich Harriers 5k on Wednesday 22nd July details on club website
ooh ooh and another....same location (yes I live there by the way !!) St Richards Hospice silver half marathon 6th September. Multi terrain 2 lap course. Entry through camba events or st Richards hospice website.
I'll go now !!
R-K, i had to rush off at the end as my husband is away so i had to be a mummy
i was 10 seconds slower - i say that although i have not checked the official stats - last time they added another 30 seconds onto my est time so i don't want to look
JB - the strawberries and cream one sounds fab - but i am on holiday
Swine flu party?
oy!!!!
this is just a snifffle
Cheers
Ade
Oh Good thread Lurker! Will bookmark it.
the bournville harriers "leafy 10k" is open for business now on:
www.bournvilleharriers.com
or on here under the events tab
last year it was a bit like a cross country as it chucked it down.
the race is on roads, through parks and along trails which you might not expect in birmingham - hhence "leafy"
for those who have done the rowheath 5k, it's a bit like that but a bigger circuit, so there are hills
and we absolutely promise that this year there will be tea and cakes - our club is known to give good cake but last year it was the thing we forgot
you forgot the FREE CHOCOLATE FOR EVERY FINISHER-
and to mention the fabulous efficient results service
and furthermore - it has its own thread Leafy 10k
Is that enough shameless and totally unbiased boinging?
Just thought, it may not be a 'serious' race, but anyone here doing the Sutton Park Race for Life tomorrow?
I'm not, for obvious reasons, but am marshalling again, so if I recognise anyone I'll give you an extra shout!
no, i am cross witth the rfl crew (again - lasrt time i was cross because they failed to provvide water even though the conditions were really hot, i know they say they don't provide but two years ago the conditions were terrible and i feel they have a duty of care considering how many inexperienced runners there are at these events. i was obviously not the only one who complained as they had water the following year)
but anyway
this time ii am cross because they took away the cannon hill version and expected us all the trawl out to the nia
well i liked it where it was, i went down and ran it and was still able to jog home and be back in time for t
so they have lost my custom
I'll have a word, shall I?!
You could still make a donation, of course - I'll put your tenner in - give me it back next time I see you!
It was really hot in May at the NEC but had a good laugh, shouted myself hoarse. I'd probably have done Cannon Hill, given the option. Was it just there last time, or were the NEC & Sutton Park ones on too?
i don't know
i think they may have taken out a couple of the smaller ones for one big one
i ama major plonker - i have just checked my last rowheath time and realised i actuyally did this one 55 seconds faster than last time, not slower as i had thought, i got my times muddled up
Yay!
If Chris M's unofficial time is correct, I was about 29 secs slower this time.
BTW Adrian C, re your Nov HM question, I guess that's a no!
yay indeed
it was a parkrun event that i did last month on a completely flat course that i did in 25.50
i did the rowheath one in 26.55
and 26 this time
not fast by your standards but a significanrt improvement
the fast boys from bvh were talking about how windy it was - possibly to make me feel better, or possibly it made a difference - we shall see when we compare
still no official results on the 5k
they have obviously got better things to do over the weekend
