I've been following him on twitter and it did seem rather an ambitious feat for such a newbie (but keen) runner! I really hope he doesn't crash and burn after a few days.
Love Eddie Izzard though, I'm seeing his show in November
seen him live, and he's great entertainment, but having walked the pennine way at about 25-30 miles/day, I seriously question whether he can do this. All the best anyway. I do note he has bag carriers and masseuses with him..
I heard him on Radio 1 this morning. He has to be mental. 5 weeks training to do 1000 miles. I am amazed there is so little publicity for this not seen anything on any of the major news sites. Perhaps they thought it was a joke. My wife did this morning until she Googled it.
I've been trying to find the route he's taking - Can't seem to find anything (I googled and just ended up with a link to a thread on Fetch, asking the same question!), but his Cake or Death website gives the route he's already taken and some other useful links for keeping updated on progress......
not sure howe someone who has trained for a month can have completed the equivalent of 8 marathons already - am I reading that right? Is he run/walking?
I had 5 years running plus a 4 month buildup to my first (and only) marathon (London 06)
Yes, I'm pretty sure I've heard of him running much longer ago than 4 weeks - I've been following him on Twitter for quite some months and he's definitely mentioned running before. Nothing 'serious' I don't think, but he's not a complete newbie.
Even so, I'm sure he wasn't in, say, Gordon Ramsey league (as far marathon-running celebs go), so this is certainly a huge feat!
This is what he is going to do according to his you tube clip ....even assuming until now he has a good average base level of training over many months (say 20 miles a week) , and has spent 4 weeks marathon training, this doesn't seem at all feasible...
I'd say the first 30 miles would be beyond him but no, apprently I'm wrong - he has apparently done 8 days of this

He's already in a bit of a bad way by the looks of things.
Going to see him in October or November anyway. Damn - what dates did I book ?!?

love Eddie's stand up, hope he (erm) can still stand up by the end of it.
Bit of a basic maths fail in the article - 1000 miles in 49 days is surely about 20 a day, not about 30?
Been following him on Twitter. I think he's fantastic to even comtemplate it.
(and the 20 / 30 a day - presumably he's having some rest days in there?)
Hurry up PP, I bought mine a couple of months ago (for Birmingham) and they're not such good seats as I'd have liked!

Impressive...but does not compute
Gosh hope he doesn't hurt himself big time!
I can, quite genuinely, say I'd rather be at work than doing that lot - and that's really saying something.
Like the sound of the "entourage" though - an ice cream van, two tents, a camper van and a sports therapist!
Talking about food again, Shimmy?
Ice cream here, cheese on the other thread....
Edit - except it was me that started it this time! Ooops
