It's pretty much flat, mostly off-road on good surfaces, couple of minor gradients but nothing major. And some kissing gates so this is not a balls-out pb course.
I'm going for four halfs in four weeks in March 2010 so this could be number 3. MK, then Silverstone, this then Bournemouth Bay. It will be nice to start with two completely flat courses, then an interesting one and finish with a coastal run.
Muttley, you're talking my kind of language! Who wants to run through city streets when you can be slithering your way along a towpath in the middle of the countryside?
I AM going to turn up at the start line in one piece for this one, I am I am!!!! Marshalling's all very well but ... Ohhh sooooo careful training over the winter months methinks
You won't see me for mud (as in, you'll be miles ahead of me churning it up) I definitely belong to the slow and steady brigade. Occasionally I think wistfully about breaking the 2 hour mark, but it probably ain't going to happen.
Really torn on this weekend and need to make a decision soon - Reading, Fleet or this one - Muttley, as you've done it before, is it a trail shoes or a road shoes run?
When I did it the weather was dry and sunny. I'd say road shoes should be fine. The route is mostly off-road but it's not a cross-country mudfest although if the weather is wet beforehand it might get a bit squelchy.
Hurrah - finally got out for a 5 mile stagger after weeks of dodgy ice and then flu, so my main comment is Ouch! Legs out of practice. Just as well this one's mainly off road - much softer on the old knee joints. How's everyone else getting on? Don't tell me - a nice relaxing 10 miler before breakfast.
Back out on the roads last night and a few laps round Ascot racecourse innner road this afternoon. For the first time ever I've been using a treadmill at the local school's sports centre. I might use it again for doing speed work or intervals.
I'm going for this Water of Life race instead of Reading or Fleet. I know Marlow pretty well (have done the Marlow half twice) - Muttley, is the parking at Bisham Abbey for the race, and was it ok when you did the race before?
296 - eyes like Wily E Coyote after a particularly impressive dynamite-based catastrophe. I'll be hoping for around 1hour 38, so around the middle of the pack?
Got to get through the 10k at Richmond Old Deer Park tomorrow first though
cant remember what number i am, but i will be there. Planning to run at predicted marathon pace so in theory, it should be comfortable..... hopefully.....

It was probably my favourite event this year.

Great stuff, I'll enter after Christmas to make sure.
Thought about Reading myself but £28 is a bit steep for a half, especially as I have 4 to enter in 4 weeks.

I'm out. On the bench with calf injury
It is healing but I can't risk a half marathon at this stage. I'll go for a gentle plod tomorrow morning for a couple of miles.
To the fit and running - enjoy this one, it's a fine event in a great setting.
