Advice needed! I'm running the elan valley 10 miler tomorrow and the forecast is heavy rain and windy - oh joy! Without sounding like a complete girl, what shall I wear?!
What Meldy said,I got thoroughly soaked at a race in June, it's not much fun! Best thing was getting changed in warm and dry clothes as quickly as poss afterwards.
Sorry - just need to say this - I find the derogatory use of the word "girl" offensive. I'm male by the way, but have 2 daughters, and don't want them to grow up thinking being a girl is anything to be ashamed of.
To answer your original question, as has already been said, in my opinion, unless it is very cold, less is definitely more in the rain - skin is pretty waterproof, so the only thing you have to worry about is getting cold, which looks like it won't be a problem. On the other hand, wet clothes stick to you, chafe more, and restrict movement. Seriously - no-one will be looking at the colour of your legs - they'll all be concentrating on running as fast as they can.
Wrote my post last night - shut off computer & as I walked out of the room I caught the garmin lead in the stair gate which slammed shut & I caught my foot under it. Oh my word -the pain!! Thought I'd broken my foot... better this morning but not sure how it's going to be with a trainer on it!
Had a bowl of porridge & going to get to the visitor centre for my number etc about 12 in time to put my galoshes on.
Camlo - really bad luck! Hope you'll still be able to take part. I'm a slow runner so fully expect to be right at the back. Hoping for around 1hr 40ish but I'm not very good at hills!
exciled claret - didn't mean to cause offence, I was making the comment tongue in cheek!

I have to agree with you there exiled claret. - I like being a complete girl. Doesn't mean I'm weak or feeble.
Yes the race was today, was absolutely drenched, could of wrung my clothes out at the end including my trainers due to the ankle deep streams along the course. That said it was a beautiful location but due to the wind and rain (and hills) very tough! Took me ages!!
Yep - I ran & I got SOAKED !!!! Opted for shorts which were great & 'waterproof' jacket which I think was the best option but I did get a bit cold in it as it stuck to me & filled with water.....
Comments
shorts and a top of some description and warm up well afterwards!
Better than full then I spose !!
errrrrm....
Hi Sally- I'm doing it too as the token Rhayader club runner- wish I'd offered to marshall now!
I'm planning on wearing 3/4 tights with a waterproof jacket & my cap!
Think I'll go for a quicker 1st half & hope I can hang on as the rain will get heavier the longer we take!!
What time do you think you'll do? I'm not a quick runner so could do with some company at the back....
(someone is walking mind so hope I beat them!)

'being a girl' is not derogatory to me
Theres not much difference between being wet with sweat and wet with rain.
And by the way, i love girls.
TK - cheers, I appreciate you didn't mean to cause offence. It's just something I've decided I need to challenge when I see/hear it.
Was the race today? How did you do?
Camlo - did you manage to run?
