blisters - soft or hard feet, which is best to prevent them?

Soft apparently to something I read once in RW (so it must be right, yeah?). I only get blisters on 1 part of my left foot so whether skin has anything to do with it I don't know.

I think it's soft. You are meant to slather any troublesome spots in Vaseline (which softens the skin) and then go to bed with socks on. Nice !
