Hypochondria

Im relatively new to this long distance running malarky. VLM will be my second marathon (the first being Tokyo just 4 weeks ago). I noticed then, as I am noticing now, that as the event gets closer, every single tweak and every single pain seems to be amplified and the slightest little pain anywhere gets me worried. I cant get through a LSR without at least 5 thoughts of "I wonder if that pain in my..... is serious"!

Anybody else having this feeling?

It's called "taper madness" and yes, I think everyone gets it.

It's very very common, ask any sports therapist,  we tend focus on little niggles that we wouldn't normally worry about.

Its CRAZY and EVERY single ache, pain tweak and niggle means your running career is over forever. Of course it isn't and you will get to the start line, just try and think rationally about things, its just nerves and the mind is an amazing thing that can play funny tricks on us.

I bloody hate taper madness though, and it never gets easier!
