I don't mind admitting that I am temporarily broke. It happens to us all once in a while. How about a thread on money saving tips; bargains you see around worth mentioning (like malt loaf is on special offer at Asda and Coop) and general ways to make your money go further... Observations? Knowledge? Bogof?

you can get a fantastic range of food for free from the fields, hedgerows and woods - at this time of year, wild garlic is coming up in abundance and the leaves are great in salads and soups (they don't produce worthwhile bulbs). fruit later and in autumn, the joys of wild mushrooms
Good idea for a thread Blondiee. I'm a thrifty type as my salary's on the low side.
I also forage, make all my own energy bars and sports drinks and take snacks everywhere with me in case I get hungry, so it stops me being tempted to buy expensive items when I'm out.
Smile offer interest on current account and on credit card purchases, so you can juggle your finances and gain a little interest each month.
I buy most of my food from Indian, Chinese and Italian shops as the rice, spices, pulses, sauces, pasta, fresh specialist items etc are cheaper and I can often save more by buying in bulk.
Parklife, thanks for that. Smile is this I presume:

Now then, hair is a fortune to upkeep if you have more than half inch growing on top.. I was told by a very wealthy chap to shop at Wilkinsons for hair products, and similar. I found hair colour for £2 when the same box was £5-7 in Tescos. I was told by a hairdresser to use hand or body cream as a finisher/styler for your hair...it works! It's probably all the same product, just packaged differently and the price doubled.
I was told to food shop at Asda, Morrisons, Aldi for food and go late in the evening, as timing gets you the reductions. If you go in after 7pm they are starting to reduce items. It also gets you empty shelves as well, so you have to be flexible in what you want. When I shop with the children we have a challenge to see what we can get for under a pound. They think it's great fun.
Wild garlic.. rub it and you can tell it is a garlic plant because it smells of... (work it out for yourselves!)
If you need household things (furniture and so on) try Freecycle.
You have to be able to collect though.
Re-use tissues each at least 3 times , shower 3 times a week max and while you wait for things to get better, smile and always look on the bright side of life........<whistles>
Oh and pillaging always works for me Kidding, new to this - what about Costco?, if you don't have that many to feed, then arrange to split with a friend or family member as you can get some great bargains bought in bulk. Things like mince, rice, pasta, toilet paper, PG tips, boxed drinks for school, some vegetables like bags of salad, peppers, strawberries. All great value if you can split the cost.
Find a rich man to marry, or at least live in sin with for a while.
Even date, he'll wine and dine you and take you out while you lead him on. Better still, a couple. When you want shot of them just mention you 7 brats that enjoy burning the nose hair from potential new daddies.
Oi! Leave er alone mate!! Maybe she's a decent old-fashioned gal.
