Good placing MadameO - have to wag my finger gently at the earphones though, one of my pet hates in races. Sympathy on the spider front. It's bound to have left the room via a small crack around the window so you won't see it when you open the door
What: short, easy swim. Why: mini-taper. Last hard: managing the in-laws prior to our holiday (yep, they're with us all week)> Last rest: I shall need one when I get back from holiday I think.
Lyrics - no.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
What: 2.35 miles streak saver done Why: it's all I could face Last hard: all of yesterday Last rest: 6 April
We went to our local theatre last night for the monthly comedy night. Guest star was Reginald D Hunter. Interesting set he did. Thought provoking and not entirely what I would call a stand up comedy set. Funny in places. Uncomfortable in places. There was another one who was excellent - Doc Brown. Very funny.
So a second night out in a week, with more alcohol. I really must stop this. Today's run was therefore very hard but very much faster than usual.
Today I have one meeting at work. And the sadist who booked it deserves to be shot. 3pm to 5pm on a Friday afternoon. Bah. Add that to the fact that I've basically been told that when we are reorganised I will be demoted. Pay protection blah blah blah but quite clearly no longer a senior person. My whole department is currently made up of people looking for new jobs.
Mava - feel you frustration as I was side ways shifted this year
I probably should have mentioned some training
What: 2km of swimming including a session not just a plod. I am actually getting faster!!!! Short bike and run Lunchtime Bodypump PM ?? Why: Starting to think winter so starting to organise the training. Last hard: Wednesday Last rest: 8 days
What: 10k easy Why: It was supposed to be 12 but I didn't feel up to it Last hard: Tuesday Last rest: Friday
Plan for the weekend is a long run tomorrow and a shorter one Sunday. We're heading up to re Wairarapa for the weekend (LMUH - not the whole club this time!) so will update when I can.
Thanks for all your wishes the sedation was good only remember part of it then got pampered went back to the home of my escorts i slept on the couch had some soft food later came home in the evening. But won't run today as precaution however i do have a massage booked
Gobi - sounds very positive on the swimming front!
Nice placing MO. Was it a pb?
Gobi / mava - they're constantly reorganising here at the moment and making redundancies each time. Not a particularly nice time to be working here tbh, but I've been here too long to walk away for something else without getting made redundant!
What: legs stiff so had a lie-in am / pm - most likely a (current) MP run (with 8-10m of effort, possibly split in two). Why: Friday is all about the MP run and for the next few weeks I have the flexibility to put it either am or pm as I adjust back to proper training. Will run easy and stick it in tomorrow's long run instead if still stiff later though. Last effort: Wednesday. Last rest: Sunday. Lyrics: yep. Great tune.
Rest day here - looks like i've timed it good with the weather.
Madame - Next race imagine the spider is behind you!!
Best of luck to the racers.
Thought - During my recent 10 mile race in the last 1/4 of a mile a fella in front of me collapsed, couldnt stand, even though he seemed "compus mentus". He tried several times to get up but just kept collapsing on the ground. Has this ever happened any of you on here? - interesting, if a bit disturbing to see, i can only imagine what it must feel like - does it come on suddenly or gradually - i wasnt expecting to see this in a 10 mile race.
LMH - I've had Mother In Law for last 5 weeks - running going great.
What: Up early, 5.1 mile bike to work and 1600m frontcrawl. Will run at lunchtime (5-6 @ MP) and cycle home this evening. Why: Bike/Swim - burn calories. Run - quality day. Last hard: Tuesday's 6.2 mile with 4 @ HMP. Last rest: Saturday Lyrics: No
hello & happy Friday mava - sorry about the works issue, as Gobi says I don't think its unique to you. I'd like to see Reginald D Hunter, find him quite funny, although I wouldn't feel too beat up about nights out + alcohol. Life's for living right? MadameO - well done with the half, but I too side with LMH on the ear attachments , tut tut, training yes, racing no. I believe there is a thread somewhere on said issue !! Good luck to those surviving in-law visits and good luck to chomski for the sub 100
What - couple of easy miles Why - mashed muscles, LSR tomorrow early doors Last hard - yesterday Last rest - Saturday
I would be quite pleased to be offered redundancy. I've been on a contract here for 15+ years so would get a decent pay off. Unfortunately there will be no compulsory redundancies and they've set things up in such a way that if you don't take what you're offered that's your problem not theirs. I have joined a union for the first time since I was in the Students' Union.
Well, I have 10 days of annual leave to play with... I suppose I should start it with some cleaning *looks guiltily around flat*
Recover well and enjoy the massage Pammie.
Sorry to hear that Mava (and also Gobi and TT - not nice to have that sort of crap going on at work).
Ah yes, the old ipod debate - I must admit it's never bothered me before, but this year with my new-found racing mojo I've started feeling bad about it. I don't think I'm quite ready to do away with it in Amsterdam, but it may be my new year's resolution! One change at a time TT - yes it was a PB, 1:42:53... still a minute slower than my nemesis though.
Good luck with the in-laws LMUH and Paddy. Re the spider, I did actually pass one when I was out running the other week. Most odd as you don't usually see the little buggers out on the street - they're usually too busy plotting world domination in a corner somewhere. Not sure what pace it was doing though.
Have never collapsed during a race fortunately, but at mile 23 of Abingdon a few years back I had to stop and walk for a bit because I thought I was simultaneously going to throw up, pass out and shit myself. Hope the guy was ok.
Have a great weekend M, and a good long run tomorrow.
Hello Chomski, and good luck with the half!
AF, wishing you well in sorting yourself out, and really hope you'll come back. In the meantime, have you killed Peter Rainbow?
A'noon peeps.What:4M Steady for me this morning, Why:Its a recovery week for me this week. Get back into it from Monday.Catch up in a minute.Lyrics: Yes, think so.Have a good one.
LMH - Yeah - Five weeks. She's awaiting the call to go in for an operation. She's not that bad really - doesnt say a whole lot but hogs the TV - not that i get much chance to watch it though.
AF - Look after yourself - Try and get back on the Horse!!!!!!!!
LMUH, that is true but I really struggle with anxiety at the best of times (not just races but life in general)and I think any deviations from my normal marathon routine might be a bit much to cope with this time. Got some XCs coming up soon after though so will be ditching it then!
Paddy, hope the MIL's op goes well and that she doesn't have to wait too long.
LMUH I have absoloutley no idea if its piri whatsits as I'm relatively clueless on these things. The pain is slowley recinding and was able to produce a light jog when I realised how late I was picking the mini PP's up from school. Will have to run tomorrow as I have left my bike at work on purpose.
postie - the piriformis will give you a right pain in the bum, sometimes confused with sciatic pain as it can radiate from top of the buttock down into the glute. If it is this there are some good (but difficult to explain) stretches that help - I'd advise a google.
Well done emzap.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

I was side-shifted and fell off the edge of the cliff.
Not been around for a while, not training, and having a major re-think about life.
be back when I've sorted myself out; or maybe not.
Have a good one!
Hey AF, hope you get it sorted.

She's moving down on Thursday. We both turn 40 in the next two weeks so it's pretty much parties all round!

Wabo: Nice to have you back.
Nice to have you back Wabo.
AF - don't be gone too long and as for thinking - don't do too much, it's over rated you know!
M - dish the goss - but not whilst I'm internet-less in the wilds of Norfolk
Five weeks Paddy? That deserves an award.
Hello Chomski.
MadameO - surely a big city marathon with lots of support would be the ideal place to ditch the i-pod?
LMH - Yeah - Five weeks. She's awaiting the call to go in for an operation. She's not that bad really - doesnt say a whole lot but hogs the TV - not that i get much chance to watch it though.
AF - Look after yourself - Try and get back on the Horse!!!!!!!!
Hello Wabo, nice to see you

Paddy, hope the MIL's op goes well and that she doesn't have to wait too long.
Well I lasted till 4.20 on Friday with no cake, biscuits etc or alcohol feeling quiet proud of myself!
Paddy I'll try not to overdo it over the weekend. Hopefully as it'll feel like a treat, I'll eat less than usual anyway!
Afternoon
What work
Why same as yesterday
Lyrics yes
