No. Hose them down then stuff with newspaper and leave to dry. Works fine with mine.
Mine usually just get left till next run, then it all cracks/falls off, but if it is really bad, they do get hosed (or sluiced up & down in the water butt)
However, on my most regular fell-race (series now sadly ended - 'The Trunce'), there was a river crossing not far from the finish
just chuck them in a bucket of cold watwer for an hour..........then remove and pout in the sun..................or more likely stuff with newspapers and dry indoors

one other tip - don't use detergent - just let the machine agitation get the crap out
