In the Warm-ups Gear section of the new RW mag just out (November issue), they actually review the Power Balance Wristband...
I suppose they are only journalists at the end of the day, therefore only one up from bacteria on the evolutionary scale so can't really be expected to know any better.

Lost credibility?
It had none, as far as I'm concerned (as a running magazine) when they did a story about a woman who "ran" a marathon in six and a half hours, after doing all her "training" on a ship,
totally lost cred yonks ago IMHO
Is that comment really necessary Waylon?
They are just people doing a job. There are pages to fill, advertisers to keep sweet, probably people everywhere with new "stuff" wanting a plug. They have readers who want to know about this sort of gadget so they can make their own minds up about it.
If you think it's garbage - and yes I would seriously doubt its claims - then don't read the review.
I'm sure its right to DO the review. But what do they say about it ?
C'mon its got the power of HOLOGRAMS in it - its got to be good for that eh ?
(makes note to take his magical hologram running horses ruler with him on next run)
I suppose carrying an ad for the thing would be on a par with a newspaper featuring horoscopes in the time-wasting section, and pretty harmless. (I notice The Metro's horoscopes are for "entertainment purposes only". They were probably sued by a Cancerian who didn't receive a favourable romantic encounter with someone who's name begins with P.) But if they're gonna critically review the product I'd hope that the words mumbo-jumbo, placebo and hokum might figure strongly.
So did they like it?
I'll have you know that we are compassionate, resourceful, tenacious and imaginative. Fiercely protective and nurturing, they are family-oriented and also inclined to take in strays.
Unless you're my favourable romantic encounter Phil???
I might be, I might not. I'm a Gemini!

"IN A NUTSHELL - Performance enhancing bracelet
Suspend your disbelief for a moment: this silicone wristband uses mylar holograms that ‘react to your natural energy field’ to improve balance, strength and flexibility, according to the makers. With stellar advocates such as Cristiano Ronaldo, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it."
Dodgy celebrity endorsement trumps merest shred of rational critical analysis. Nice one RW.
In next month's issue: Pope Benedict's favourite carb gels...
