Anyone else eat oats, as in cerial oats? And more to the point, can anyone reccomend a decent brand/product which are free from loads of sugar and crap? Just plain and simple...

Seriously though, I put oats in quite a few things, besides breakfast, such as yoghurt &, believe it or not, omelette...
I love oats too but they have to unadulterated without sugar etc (yuk too sweet) I eat mine with salt or a handful of blueberries or a chopped banana
Waitrose own brand porridge oats don't contain anything else.
Dorset cereals do just pain oats.

you're right about the pinhead paul (the best)
sounds like a sat treat with honey and cream though (and maybe a splash of drambuie (they do that at gleneagles you know!)

Add water, micorwave and there's breakfast. Porridge made with water is creamier textured than when made with milk, weirdly.
I make mine with water to avoid calories in milk and add honey and have a bigger portion too. Kids eat with milk. Porridge is one of my most favourite foods, sometimes I eat it for tea as well if I fancy a hot mel but don't want to cook anything else.
As to value I have tried out various things and sometimes I just can't taste the difference between value and not value apart from the price. The example of this is let's say custard cream and milk digestive biscuits. They taste exactly the same. I read somewhere that many people are just afraid of value brands as the packages look cheap and unappealing and they are afraid to be perceived alike, I personally don't care, I buy quite a few value everyday items and think they are just as good.
and oats may well be one of them but i think the flakes in scotts are larger and chunkier

I like value ranges - often they taste better for some things as for porridge oats I really can't see what teh difference between value and branded could be
I sometimes get whole oat groats - soak them over night with some dried fruit and nuts then blend for a cold raw porridge - good on race days, can go for longer without needing food for some reason
I used to eat oat bran but they gave me terrible trots whilst running, had to abandon but they make a lovely smooth porridge.
The thing with value brands may be that they may have some wood chips or something similar added or just dust off the floor in the mill, does not bother me though, additional boost for digestive system.
Good just cooked with milk and add a drizzle of honey and some dried cranberries.
Or, baked in the oven with milk, pears and cinnamon - yum yum
