Crickey don't look to closely at this thread then KK. I love to drop in at the sub 3.15 pad because they give loads of good advice but I don't think I'll ever get anywhere near that time.
I am pretty sure Dave is in this time zone at the moment but is probably caught up with festive stuff so I would just drink yourself silly until he tells you otherwise !
Congrats Minni. You might not get a free pair of trainners, but I have a feeling that this is going to be a much more positive and less pressured experience than that 'other' lot of S6ers!
Just to recap, which marafun are you running again and what's your current pb?
Minnni First off I'm not a Iron Man yet, though I'm working on that. I have though run a few of these marathon things and indeed have run sub 3-30, though there were many times not so long ago when I considered that impossible. So lets start by saying of course you can do it ,as after all its just a abstract number does it really matter if its 3-31 or 3-29? To the general public no it doesn't to a runner you bet your arse it does BUT at the end of the day it is a mental barrier more than a physical one.
So what marathon are you running? Whats your current PB and what schedule if any are you planning on following?
Apologies in advance for what I know will be rather random postings over the next week or so as I'm currently travelling around the UK visiting relatives and most of them being rather elderly have not embraced the internet!
Right now its a pretty good time to kick back and enjoy the good things in life so don't put that wine glass down just yet!
Well done Minni you're in good hands and will be keeping a special out on this thread as well While not quick as you hopin for a sub 3:50 but will be interested t see what Dave has in store for you
This is all very exciting and especially looking forward to the training in Dubai! Thank you for offering your time to help guide a novice like me.
Right down to business.
Marathon PB 3.31 in 2006 which was my third marathon. Last year I did 3.32 missing my pb by only 17 seconds. Recently (6 weeks ago) I ran a marathon in 3.36 with less than ideal training. My strength is endurance and my weakness is speed in shorter races ie 10k. I have run 7 marathons now and all have been under 3.45 except one.
I live in a hilly area and am able to do alot of running off road in the hills. I am surrounded by hardy fell runners, of which I'm not really one but do quite enjoy off roading it.
I have a decent treadmill at home and I also cycle. I have been having swimming lessons (future Tri plans) but will probably give this a miss for the next few months in favour of running.
I am planning to follow the P&B up to 55 miles and kind of started last week but mass snow, ice and minus 17 temperatures have made it a bit difficult.
Schedules based on weekly milage and the science behind running, which has made me understand a lot about the importance of sessions and recovery. Recommended.

Round of applause
I will say that Dubai Dave works on a slightly different time zone so dont despair if he is a little late to the party
Good luck !!

Well done Minni. Look forward to hearing all about your training.
