100km .the classic "ultra"distance

Just alerting you all to one of the few chances in the uk to run the absolutely classic 100km distance.

 Yes, of course we all love running the trails but 100km on the road (,along with 24 hours) are the two key distances recognised for rankings and record purposes,and the brits are quite good at it ,with 3 recent ladies world champions in Ellie Greenwood ,Lizzie Hawker and Carolyn Hunter Rowe . Not forgetting Scotlands Don Ritchie who still holds the bext time ever recorded for the 100km distance  of 6 hours 10 minutes and 10 seconds!!

  So .. to take up your own 100km challenge  click  http://uk.srichinmoyraces.org/ultras

There is also a 50km event.

    Don't forget Angie Sadler!
  • Thanks Nick,...certainly not , Angie has certainly had some good results the last couple of years, especially especially at the 24 hour event at the perth course last september,, the same  venue for the Self Transcendence 100km in March. However  I think she would be the first to agree she is not quite in the same league as the trio of 100km world champs!!

    100km = 62.14miles / 6 hrs 10mins = 5.95 min miles for 62.14 miles.

    That is truly awesome!

  • Hi kev ,

      Yes and his  best 100 mile times  of 11 hours 51 min and 11 secs  on the road, and the even better 11 hours 30 minutes and 51 secs set at crystal palace track are also "pretty useful "and were world records that both lasted for many years.....will leave you all to work out the min per mile pace on those two!!
