I live in Rainham. I'm running out of new places to run. I go down the saxon shore path and around the streets but if you know of some pleasant spot I'd be gratefull for some new scenery.
would be interested and I know quite a few others that would also be interested. Now would be the perfect time with the new running track at the black loin
There is a running club called RunMedway which meets in the reception area of the Mid-Kent College campus by the Black Lion in Gillingham 7pm Mondays. Best to email runmedway@mandmac.org for more information. Also more information on the Medway & Maidstone AC webiste http://mandmac.org/runmedway.aspx.
I am very new to running but would preferably run on a track. I need to be able to do it during the day does anyone know of any local tracks that do not charge you the earth to use them? I am in chatham and would prefer somewhere close by.
i know this is an old forum but did anything come of a club for people that live in medway? im just starting off running and am hoping to do the 2012 london marathon. i live in rainham and the nearest running club i found is sittingbourne which is where i am off to tonight.
i have started running in sittingbourne. the club know lots of routes around there so you come come to a session and then get some tips from them or just come running with the group. depending on how fit and how long you been running there would be a few sessions worth looking at. if your new to running then 630 on a tuesday or 730 if your a strong runner. they also meet on a thursday and a sunday i think. i have only bee a couple of times but they seem like a nice group of people.
Hey, does anybody know if the sittingbourne running club, still run on tuesdays? i have just moved to the rainham area and need to get my running back up.
hello. yea they do run on a tuesday thats the club i belong to. tuesday at 630 for slower runner 730 for quicker. and thursdays at 530. i travel there from rainham as well
i think you maybe thinking of rainham essex if you live in barking? im in rainham kent your more than welcome to join us but might be quite a trek for a run
Great.,The members of this group will benefit by meeting other people who are interested in: 1) Meeting other local triathletes to train with... Those long training sessions can get lonely! Learning training tips and training te …
So I am in a similar spot but theres two or three of us that meet wednesday evenings (7:45)at the old hop and vine now dominos in rainham for a run. various routes various paces but primarily using it as a mid week longish run for marathon training. Is there still interest?
Hi I would be interested. I live in medway and normally just run at Roko in the week as its too dark to go out alone but a running group allowing a longer run would be great.
We currently do about a 7.5 miler and then extend when we have time or inclintion...this time of year the weather really dictates what we do as you can imagine. We try and do a longer run either sat / sun mornings as well doing a full loop into the dockyard and up through brompton. I think we are out tonight if not most certainly next week! Let me know if you are interested. FYI http://www.facebook.com/groups/hopandvineharriers/ is our little forum...
Yep we are still out and about. This weekend is a long run, 19 miles as we are marathon training, run at a steady pace on the flat. Runners and riders can join and drop off whenever! The more the merrier! Probably start about 8.30 or so
Well it's pretty informal. Come and go as you please...generally meet at the hop and vine rainham which is now dominos as its a good starting point and you can always grab a pizza when you are done. However the start can change, there's no fixed rules. Generally Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings...as I said this weeks a long one but you can start at domino and finish at st Mary's which we run through and that's about 9 miles...
Hi guys, definitely interested in joining you if this is still happening? Is it still Wednesdays and Sundays? What kinda time do you meet there? Cheers, Joe
Hi there, I like to run in Medway and other parts of Kent
I have also recently launched http://www.runkent.com a free forum for runners in Kent to discover new running partners, running routes, training tips and more. I found when searching online I couldn't find one place to go to find running information for Kent.
Im also thinking of setting up regular runs for members and maybe finding run leaders for each district in Kent to hold their own group runs.
Feel free to add a post on the forum as I think it would be great to promote running in Kent and meet other running partners to get fit together and motivate each other.
Hi all, good to see this thread. I'm about to move to the Medway area. Do you have any tips on best places to live for good running routes (especially off road) where a girl running on her own can feel safe...
also I'm going to check out the various clubs or group runs mentioned here
I can recommend Rochester. I have some nice runs of over 10km off road on quiet areas. Also lovely views across river medway. If you need any details let me know. I have them all on GPS as well using a Garmin watch.

I am not aware of any other club in Medway - certainly there SHOULD be one.
Otherwise you can travel to Gravesend (Gravesend Road Runners and Ifield & Istead RC) or Maidstone (Maidstone Harriers - my club).
Lots of good running in Medway though - whereabouts are you based?
