Feijoas do not taste of deep heat. They won't be in season anyway, fruit still ripening although I saw some in the supermarket today for almost $10 a kg!
You're just too organised for your own good! Must give my friends a call and start organising myself.
And as for training - I'm way ahead of the Fink on swimming, about on par for pedalling and haven't run since 1 June. Tried a couple of 10 metre jogs while walking dogs today and didn't cripple myself so maybe ready to start the long slog back to run fitness.
Just had a bit of a read through of the 2009 thread and got all excited again
Week one of thirty successfully completed - though not fully according to Fink. With Vit only a few weeks away, I need to be doing more than 30min bike sessions!
Can now run again - but only up to 3.5miles; pedalling is getting stronger; swim is fine. Still haven't managed to complete a whole week entirely according to Fink but I'm about on par with where I should be. Schedules are made to be adapted
I can't believe I attempted a half marathon off the back of diddly squat but managed it ok with relatlively little in the way of aches and pains. Just goes to show there is quite a lot there under the surface I guess.
Swimming's good, run's coming together nicely, bike has been sadly neglected.
Did an hour on the turbo last night and really struggled, only managed about 13.7 miles. Left me thinking it's gonna hurt big time and was a bit of a wake up call.
Got back on the turbo this evening and managed 18.5 miles in 75mins with fewer breaks and it seemed much easier. Phew!
Just looked back at my pre-Roth training and did most of my pedalling in the two months before the event. So, all I have to do is make sure I spend the next 48 days getting some serious pedalling in. Just hope the weather holds out so I don't have to do 4+ hours on the turbo.
good luck with next years IMNZ, do you remember when we supported in 2009 and said we would like to work out there? well the dream is finally happening, we have 3 year visas and fly out on 16th March, so sadly not in time to come and support but hope it goes well for you and the other pirates
and maybe, just maybe I will come out of retirement and do some tri's while we are there, cant promise an IM though, but maybe stretch to a half
That's fab news jellybabe, whereabouts are you going to be based?
They say NZ is the adventure sport capital of the world so there'll be plenty of other stuff to try if you don't want to drag yourself out of retirement
Bike and run will be fine. Swim, errrr... Last time I wore my wetsuit was IMNZ 2008.....
Still, it's a bit like reading a bike, you never forget right....
Weather over xmas was awful over here which possibly stopped me overtraining when I was off for 2 weeks. Still, managed to get -84 on the WKO PMC which wasn't a good sign........
In general however, then life is good. Sorted out the solar heater for the pool at home, so swim practice is fine. Just not sure about the 380 lengths it would be for a race distance practice...
I may have got the taper cracked.....
Looking forward to it now. I'll be in Taupo from the Wednesday, and if anyone fancies a meet up before as they travel via Tauranga then give me a shout.
Hey Jellybabe, we're back in Sydney so give us a yell when you're heading to the west island
Might have a new client in Hawks Bay, just down from Taupo, just need to swing a trip over for a couple of weeks time. Dissapointed not to be doing it but think I'm well beyond blagging it, but am enjoying being back on the bike to work the last couple of weeks. Got a spare bed if anyone's heading to/from via Sydney.
hey Kanga, when did you head back down under? we only have about 8 weeks left til we arrive, its getting scary but exciting. I will check my email is correct although I dont come on RW very often, middle aged spread is taking over, but hoping to get back into some kind of training when we get settled in. surely it has to be nicer running around NZ than it is in Gibraltar
Potential client obviously needs a visit to persuade them you're their best option and/or reassure them they've made the best choice. Be great to see you if you can swing it
jellybabe - how exciting, I'm only a teeeeeeeeeny bit jealous. Those 8 weeks are going to pass in a flash and all of a sudden it'll be time to go
The swim (once again) is the only bit I'm looking forward to
Hopefully by the time Outlaw comes around, I'll actually have done enough pedalling to relatively enjoy that bit too. Be good to see you there if you do get down for it. Have you seen the Outlaw supporters' thread?

we are heading to Masterton, which is about 60 miles north of Wellington, so a good base for exploring both islands
our trusty bikes are looking forward to exploring and if you fancy a rerun in 2013 well we can just pop up and cheer you on
Anyone have a 40 day IM training plan? Just had teh email form the race office.....
Hiya Dunc, how's you?
40 days. How did it get so close without me noticing?
A 40 day training plan? Something like:
Day 1: Swim 3k
Day 2: Bike 150k
Day 3: Run 30k
Day 4: Taper....
Bike and run will be fine. Swim, errrr... Last time I wore my wetsuit was IMNZ 2008.....

Hi guys - very jelous of you heading to NZ - love it there.
Hope you all have a fab race.
I'll never forget that swim!!!
It was certainly one to remember, Jaggy - for all the wrong reasons
Yup - still shiver at the memory!
Got there in the end!
Lake Placid last year was like stepping in the bath in comparison!
