Run it two years ago and going to try it again this year. Nice route through lovely woodland with patches of the best Bluebells in the area. Mostly over hard packed tracks. Sharp up hill in the last half mile. So leave energy for that.
I'd say wear trail shoes as from memory I think there are a few muddy paths stretches. Weather now is drying things out lovely at the moment? So road shoes with a bit of a grip on the sole may well be fine especially on the hard tracks?
Ran the course yesterday morning in a pair of standard running shoes and it was fine. Virtually all of it is dry now and the bits that are slightly muddy you can run around. The bluebells are coming out too which is good - two weeks earlier than normal. See you all next Sunday.
the first race back after knee operation,i ran it 2 years ago i am looking forward to it,but also a bit nevous, how many of you ran in the snow ,i went over cissbury ring, chanterbury ring in the snow it was good training, mats at work think iam not all the ticket, see you all sunday and have a good run
Yep, I'll be towards the rear of the field on Sunday next - looking forward to it - Is the last uphill on-'road'? (I think it's called Selden Lane - ending near The Fox pub (excellent real ales there by the way ....) .
Using this race as a bit of a gauge as to how I'll do in The Three Forts half in 3 weeks time.
Good luck, Lisa - I remember you ran well at the Steyning Stinger - I hope your training has been going well since!
... and everyone else, have a grea trun through sunny, dry, Angmering on Sunday
Just to let you know the numbers, race details and maps were posted yesterday with a first class stamp so you should hopefully get them today or tomorrow. The first 1km is downhill, 2-3km are a gradual climb to the top of Monarchs Way (nothing too severe) then its flat to 5.5km, downhill to 7km then mainly flat to 9km with a couple of small bumps. Whilst the hill at the end seems daunting as you approach it, it is only about 200m long so before you know it it's over! Water will be at 4.3km and unless there's a heatwave this will be the only one on the course. I'll keep you updated if there's anything of note. Mick (Race Organiser)
Hi Mick, I've not received my race numbers in the post yet. Hopefully they will arrive today or tomorrow, but if not will numbers be available on the day? Thanks.
Chris. If you entered after last Saturday we held onto your numbers just in case they got held up in the post. You can collect them from registration in the marquee at the pub. Race details and maps are on the event page. I've just put some early warning notices up in the park and the bluebells are quite impressive - I think you'll enjoy it. Mick
Well done and thanks for a great run, the hill was a killer but I forgive you for it, I will be back next year and I will be 60 and going for 40 mins (weather permitting). On the downside, the results in my view could have been done quicker whilst everyone was still there BUT they were on the web by 20:00hrs so Hey ho. again Thanks Roy Thrift green Trotter
Mick, Thank you for a great race I'm looking forward to this again next year.
The scenery is beautiful and the last hill, although a bit of a killer was the last hill and at the top you know you are just around the corner from the finish !
