Good Morning RW Forum,
After doing some reading on a week or R&R, I want to come back stronger, and one thing I've never done is a post race recovery in terms of nutrition.
What is a practical source of post-race protein that can be carried to a race in a backpack? (i.e. no heating or chilling availiable)

Another Slimfast user here.
Also, you can buy recovery shakes such as For Goodness Shakes, they have a higher proportion of protein in them than Slimfast do.
Folks, as ever - Thank you for your advice and information - Will purchase a variety of the things above and trial them post race / workout.
Much appreciated.
Mixed fruit and nuts is a great way of combining carbs and protein. Remember that replenishing your glycogen by carb ingestion is just as important (if not more so) than taking on board protein in terms of quality and speed of recovery, plus immune system protection.
I keep a stock of almonds and raisins around for this purpose (cheaper to buy seperately and do the mixing myself!
sorry ........the first thing that came into my head was sperm.......cheap and easily available
I can supply chocolate, strawberry or "natural".... and smokey bacon.
But I can imagine if one of the world record holders came out and said they used it every day......................some company would start marketing it at runners at mega prices and some idiots would buy it...................
how amny people are buying specially hydrating water
Aaaaaanyways...
Protein it will be this eve after a long run.
Just knocked down a FGShakes banana milk (powder sachet type)
Really impressed with the flavour for a water based mixed drink. Shall see if I can notice any diff.
