Right. Am up for saturday, but can't PM you Seren... Mobile technology not up to it, it seems..... Fancy going to the diving centre instead? Not sure if one is closer to the other...?
No, I was tight for time, so just stopped in the Car Park, looked through the fence, and took a photo. Looks awesome, but scary, so I'm sure you need to be fairly confident.
just noticed this .hope it went well PP..........we went swimming agin in the taff today......current was less than last week as we hadn't had much rain recently............
it was lovely again...........we went a bit further but found that after 1/2 mile upstream the river gets shallower and had loads of weeds so for decent swimming its upstream 1/2 mile and then back to the start.........next weekend i might try to do a bit more than a lap........
i love it
if anyone fancies it sometime let me know....its off junction 32 of the M4
Not convinced about the river swimming Seren, lol. The quarry was lovely this afternoon, only issue I had was I didn't dry my wetsuit properly last time I used it so I struggled to get it on properly. It felt really tight on my neck which was pleasant .. teach me for being sloppy with my wetsuit care!
Seren, is that just above the Weir (Radyr), off the Taff Trail? Often thought about jumping in for a swim when I'm running down there, but never really see anyone. If so, might give it a go one day
Thats the place......a few step lead you down........really safe......i would still prefer going with someone or having someone on the bank watching just to be safe...............

Hi Seren, I got through to the dive centre and it's fine to just turn up during their opening times for a swim. Cost's £5.
Which beaches do people use of sea swimming?
thanks PP.thats useful..........
I have used barry and porthcawl.........
but awkward on your own
Beaches, Barry and Porthcawl again, not the most scenic of places, or water, but it's do'able, around the turn of the high tide, but not alone
I would like to get some OW in just in case I can afford a late entry to one of the woody aqua bike things (don't really think I will want to run)
Bryn Bach might be doing able depending on transport links from Newport
I was in Bristol on Saturday and drove up there on the way back with my wetsuit. It was so windy I bailed!
We should all arrange to meet up one day and go, although the next 2 weekends are out for me.
Did you go right down to the water? It's lovely when you're down there and they have a mini bus that'll take you up and down.
What did you think of the lake in Bristol?
I don't think i can do wednesday because i have a doctors appointment

The river where we are going is nicer and cleaner than any lake i have swam in.........
it is cold when you first get in to the river but warms up when you start swimming......

Its so warm today I could do with jumping in now
I'd give it a go too, and Radyr not that much further than Chepstow for me.
that would be great Hope..........
i went this morning.......if the ran carries on we should have a bit more current by the weekend
