new running shoes

looking to buy some new ones and wondering is it worth going to a specialist running shop and having analysis done on their treadmill? or is this just to sell you more expensive shoes? i've been using cheap asics ones from sports direct (about £38) for nearly 2 years and not had any problems.

i've had gait analysis but always been offered the cheaper shoes - so no not really. However if you have a shoe that you like then why change - stick with it.

i don't really go a bundle on gait analysis though. Each to his own.

Ben - running without injury is the holy grail.  Don't blow it by changing shoes.

By all means get your gait checked out...remember you are under no obligation to buy and they may show you shoes which are the exact same as your own or similar models thus giving you some alternatives and later on more scope to buy better/ make more informed choices when next on-line or out shopping. As others will say, and I do agree, if it ain't broke why fix it
  • At certain shops though, probably most, if you use the gait analysis and don't buy a shoe from them, they will charge you for the the analysis, £20 or thereabouts.
