  • Some good deals going on bikes, and Ins company may have to give you more than you paid to get the same spec bike.
  • Fraggle...as said above ...hopefully on the way home they got run over and "KILLED" but that is only my opinion as what should happen to the little shites.image
  • Goes off to window shop for nice bikes for Fraggle image

Nicko - I have spoken to the organisers already about dates for next year - it's before the Olympics and will have no implications for your working there.  They've not released the date yet, as soon as they do, I'll post it.

  • Just a hypothetical question - is it possible to do an IM on a hybrid?
  • image Afraid you won't be allowed to do that distance on anything other than a racing bike normally under the rules.
  • i'm sure i have seen a photo of a old blue 3 speeder with basket on the front racked up in transition for a IM race..
  • The Vit rules say no hybrids/mountain bikes.
  • It is probably for your benefit not to use a hybrid anyway. The position is very upright, so you'll be catching the wind like a sail. Compare that to the aerodynamic tuck of someone on tri bars. They'll go faster for the same amount of energy. That'll add up to a considerable amount of energy over 112 miles or so.
  • would love to see someone do the relay bike leg on a bromton...

"There are no rules about it"

not true KK - but it depends on whose rules the race is being run under!!

the BTF and ITU have very specific bike rules that are quite complex to outline but generally MTB and hybrids fall within them.

ultimately it is the Race Director who specifies whether MTBs or hybrids can be used and not all events are BTF sanctioned (WTC and Challenge events have their own set of rules which generally comply with ITU but have some differences - drafting rule as an example)

but as said - a hybrid is not best to use even allowing for all that rule guff!!!
  • Oh well! I'll take part in a relay team then image

  • Hello folks just been put onto this thread by Soup Dragon.

A couple of you know me already but most don't, did my first tri at Nantwich in May (fun distance) and have got Trentham (sprint) next month and Nantwich again in September and have decided to F*£k it and go all out next year for Outlaw.

As it stands my most recent milestone in swimming was 500m, so a very long way to go with that one image

My bike is ok although the most I've ever ridden is about 70 miles.

My run is ok too and I've covered marathon distance a couple of times.

I don't know how on earth I'm gonna finish this race but I'm gonna do it somehow!! imageimageimage

  • Suppose I better join this list then eh?
