I have done it before. Can't seem to find a link to the route, but it is mainly flat with one or two inclines. It goes out on a disused railway line and then back along a river bank, with the odd bit on paved road/paths. If it's rained then parts can be quite muddy and there are quite a few stiles to clamber over! I really like the half and the 9 mile race at Henfield
I've done this twice, and it's mainly flat, with some inclines at the end; though, because of the awkward surface (some ruts and some tufty grass) and the stiles, it's not a fast course. It's all very low key and relaxed and friendly and very pleasant. It's great to run through nice countryside past cows and sheep and swans drifting down the river.
@Tom77 - they might have changed the course since I ran it, but you've got the course going through the streets of Henfield when it used to go through a gap in the hedge around the Leisure Centre field, and straight out onto fields.
Wow, the course has changed since I last ran it. They moved the start in order to overcome the bottle neck going through the hedge and along the narrow track through the corn field, and then added in a new loop at the end. I preferred the old course. It was flatter.

This is a rough guess at the route based on the description that came with my number:
