  • Rowan do you know when the pics and official times for last Saturday will be on ? I appreciate your busy like the rest of us so no rush , just a quick question
  • times should go up over weekend - lady who does it all got day off tomorrow so will hope to get sorted.

photographs - we had Echo and freelance last year but not this year - this year we had just one of the cricketers doing it - will try and get some up on the web-site over the weekend.

hope a report and photos will go in the Echo in next few days.

  • Results and pix still not up.....

    Any news?

Just for the record, I love this event (having run the original years ago).

    Edward

  • Edward

Sorry - not yet! I can do pictures but waiting for results - the lady is swamped with work as well but will do when she gets a chance!

Not many that have done the race in the 20th and 21st century - makes about 4 that I know now!

I hope the race has legs (pardon the pun) and can get up to 250 -300 runners each year.

  • Hi Rowan

Ok, I'll try to be be patient image Weirdly I think I came seventh when I ran it in the 20th c and seventh again last year.  I might have even improved this year.  It's such a fantastic race though - I love these low-key, uncommercial, local races, with quirky routes.  Still very well organised, though - smooth as silk on the day.

    Edward

  • I will tell my mum as it was her idea many many years ago!

We learned a lot from the first race last year (more drinks stations, finish in cricket club etc) but still mad panic in few days up to the race to make it look like we are organised! we raised over £500 for Tewkesbury Hospital from the race which was good!

I like the description of quirky for the route - went around a few local races drumming up support and cross country seems to be a dirty word nowadays!

Seventh is still seriously good running - my aim is to beat an hour next year (if train really hard could get under 50 minutes - built for cricket and golf not for running!)

  • image and me ...

(don't want to chase too much as lady who has had info has recently lost job and her mum just had car accident!) but again been promised that it will be ready this evening!!!

  • Some things are worth the wait..

Ive entered the birmingham half in october now so got a little run in last night
  • Ok, Rowan.  I'll try to be patient..... If you can, would you mind posting here when the results are up as then I'll get a notification?

    Thanks

    Edward

  • Results tend to be as important to club runners as marshalls or water stations.  I think this should go down on your lessons to be learned list. Don't just rely on one person being able to publish the results on your website.

    Thanks

  • I have to agree with Matt.  If the event is to succeed (which I believe it deserves to - it's a great course, an unusual distance, and very congenial) then getting accurate and speedy results out is a must, particularly as we all pay good money to run, and some (not me) come quite a distance.  I could understand if this was the London Marathon, but there were only a few dozen runners, and collating these on a spreadsheet is a couple of hours work at most..

Another thing that could go on the lessons-to-be-learned list is to source numbers that don't fall to bits image

  • image embarrassed by delay  - very sorry, thanks for your patience! was fairly quick last year - if the server is working the results should be up on the web-site soon.

sticky numbers will be sorted ( looks like we have lost a couple of runners' times as they lost their numbers

    we will get better

  • Small problem - I appear to be missing from the list.  If it helps, I was 6th or 7th (I think) just behind a runner from Gloucester AC in around 43m +
  • out of all the people that I did not the timers to miss .... sorry!

i will add you on the site when I get a chance (makes you 6th i think)

  • Edward,

I was the Gloucester AC runner just ahead of you (only 2 of us on the day and the other was further down the field), and I finished 7th - which obviously makes you 8th.  I hope this helps!

  • Cheers Omar.  You were parked next to me in the car park, I think...  I was certainly in front of Dave Spackman, though that hasn't always been the case image

    Looking forward to next year.

  • Cheers rowan for the results
  • Hi Rowan

The results on the website are incorrect.  I should be at 8th place - my time (on my watch) was 43m 23s.

    Thanks

    Edward

  • Hi Rowan

The results are STILL incorrrect.  I realise that I only came 8th but to a saddo like me that's important.  Please can you have a word in the correct ear or ears and get it sorted?

    Thanks

    Edward

  • Edward - sorry did not got notification of entry from RW - I will put up your time up this weekend when i have time to look at the web-site!
  • Cheers Rowan!  It all seems a very long time ago, back when the world was warm....
  • i am out running as well as part of big diet purge! lost nearly stone and a half which makes running easier - 1/2 to 1 stone go and will be back to my 20's weight! Might even beat an hour this time ...
  • Good on you Rowan keep it going
  • Andrew if you get this - please could you send your email again to rowanleeke@hotmail.co.uk and i will arrange time to come and see you regarding chipping!

same for whoever potentially wishes to sponsor the event!!!

and thank you - about time, first time ever "fat", John Biffa is my new "diet" hero!

  • Update -

thanks to Andrew we will be having chipping this year

believe we have a sponsor for the race so more money for charity and club

charity this year is pied piper appeal

unless i break a leg or violently ill i will run - if get over £300 will run in nurses uniform! training going and up to over 10 miles and had a runners high this morning (endorphins i assume!)
