it's just been announced that IM Wales 2012 will be on 16th September - entries open at 8am on October 2nd after the C4 showing of a programme on this years event.
get those entry fingers ready - this is the one you hardened IM have to do!
it was rumoured to be the same day as Henley despite the IM main site showing the 9th. I suspect the tides might have something to do with the choice of date as it would be difficult to do the swim when the tide's out!
from their Facebook and Twitter feeds this morning - it's not showing the date on the website yet though although there is a "Race Entry open Sunday" link on their home page. the website usually takes a little while to update to what is happening in real time
I wonder if Challenge Henley will get more Pirate attendance this year. It was jolly good but I think only 3 of us from this forum made themselves known.
as most people seem to be doing Outlaw this year, I think the pirate numbers for Henley and Tenby might be thin but I'm sure that both will get a few entrants from those who want a different challenge or decide to do both
symes - I think you may find it will sell quicker than this year as it now has a reputation as a tough fecker which could draw in those who want a challenge. I wouldn't be surprised if it sells out at some time - be interesting to see how quickly entries take off from Sunday...
Fair point, thought it might be good to try it before ExtravaLanza in 2013 as a comparison. Also eying up the Midnight man in Dartford although that does have tedium written all over it would be good to do an IM on closed roads in the UK
I'm signed up . I read somewhere on one of the other IM pages that some sell out in hours so went online early and hammered the credit card. Couple of friends signed up to have a go next year as well. Watching the coverage today was great and If 2012 is even half as good I'll be happy
I've entered and I feel sick. Not because it's going to hurt, but because this is the first time in my life that i've committed to something in advance . Much happier keeping my options open until the last second, like Outlaw last year.
Ho hum - it's done now. And it'll keep the lard off my love-handles through the cold winter .
I was a volunteer at this years IM Wales and was so inspired by all the competitors that in a moment of madness this morning I have entered 2012 will be looking for lots of advice over the coming months....
Great stuff Kelvyn ... Im certain you won't regret it. There is lots of good advice to be found on these forums. Latching on to the "pirates" was the best thing I did in terms of IM prep and is for sure what got me through Wales, enjoy your next 11 months training and see you in Tenby

FB where did you get this date from? Not doubting you, just want to check before booking accommodation etc... ?
The chimes of impending doom clang in my ears.

I am hoping to be there in some capacity (but defo not racing!)
What - no list, Schmunks? Perhaps it's a little too basic to merit a List Fairy's attention... so i'll kick it off;

As Shmunkee hasn't started on the errors, I'll carry them on!
