Ran past it Tuesday night, and it looked very inviting.
I'm not so sure....I've cycled past it once unknown, then visited to view your hidden gem. The shopping trolleys under the bridge didn't entice me in.....
Does anyone have garmin files of ~10k runs near Newport and Cardiff?
Well, we made it to the bridge and back, about 1.5km, really quite pleasant, not too much flow on the river, and very clear and clean. Only felt the cold after I got changed, but quick coffee and a warm shower, and normality restored.
Did a lap this morning........I have to admit that it felt colder than last week........must look for booties and gloves...........but another session done..........
anyone up for next week...........i think that saturday morning is free for me next week
I actually went down yesterday lunch time for a swim. However, due to recent weather with storm water run off, river was looking murky and not too clean, so I took the safe option and ditched it. Still looking inviting this morning when I ran past.
I was in the river ely this morning for a kayak. Not as cold as I expected but murky. I may be up for tomorrow but don't count on me as I'm at a party tonight. Depends on how late I'm out and how early you go
need to leave the home by 10 for swansea so would have to be out very early before 7 ....got to cook cooked breakfast as well for my sons 18th birthday........looking more and more like a tight squeeze
Right got my swim socks and gloves................so am going to try saturday or sunday morning..............I went past the river today and its looking rather swollen..not sure how far upstream I will be able to get.........
What time where you thinking Seren? I'll go for it this one last time this year if I put on about 4 caps, wear my Vibrams and think of something for my hands - marigolds?
earlier suits me as there is hockey on again later on the saturday and sunday..not sure of the times for both yet..................sunday would have to be earlier than saturdays............
I have the feeling it will be a bit like swimming in an endless pool
Where exactly you been swimming in the Taff? I have been a few times just above Radyr weir, it was really nice. I have always swam alone with the missis spotting from the bank, always nicer to actually swim with someone.
I would be up for it but I feel it may be a bit cold now, tempting though.
Thats the spot taffy......we park on the forest farm site and walk across the path to the steps just above the weir I sometimes go with a spotter but much better swimming with someone you are welcome to join us any time.......'m hoping to swim at least once a week all winter............. we will see
Since i come from the north i normally park here http://tinyurl.com/5wgc2swits only a 30s walk from the car to the entry point.
I am pretty sure i cant make it this Satuday as you are planning but perhaps next week i will check in and see if your going. Must be mental even considering it!
Arg! Gloves hat and booties! Where from? If I do this, I would probably have to do squares to get used to it again. I have been super lazy since September holiday. Hmm... Will think about it. I had put my wetsuit away for winter but it would be good to keep training interesting...
I got the blue seventy ones.normally £22 each but I got the three from a shop on ebay for £41 for the three including delivery........it was a dive centre and they definitely helped especially the gloves
they are my christmas present from my mother........just delivered early

Probabky running up to The Mountain Snack on Caerphilly Common, and back through Taff Trail and Castell Coch, so about 20km, nice and hilly.
Nice chilly swim then, and the legs should be good
Good way to finish a long run.
loved the swim again...................need to think about hat and boottees for when it starts getting cold.
don't think I can do next saturday but up for a swim on sunday next week if anyone is free
Massive respect and envy!

Fantastic, see you bright and early on Saturday then
the water was deepr than normal and it looked quite still........almost millpond...............but that was deceptive...
it was hard work....managed a few 100m......instead of swimming in one go we were swimming from tree to tree...............
loved it though...........didn't find it as cold as the lasdt couple of times.the car told me it was 6 degrees........
maybe it felt warmer as I had my new gloves and bootees and hat on............
right who is on for next week

I could be tempted next week. I will try to keep it free.
I have gloves but my boots are crap so may have to invest. Will post later in the week.
