I am DELIGHTED to be classified as a PB Hunter!! Does this make me a proper runner now?!
I have been shortlisted for the Asics Target 26.2 Paris Marathon competition and would be ECSTATIC, ELATED, OVERJOYED, THRILLED (Plus every other superlative you can think of) if you were to support me to reach my goal of breaking 4 hours.
Why me?
- I have a PB of 4:00:13 - anyone who runs will appreciate that this is a cruel, cruel time and non-runners saying "...it is as good as breaking 4 hours" makes it grate that little bit more. Surely I could have found those 14 seconds somewhere? I blame the over zealous water station person who chased me down as I took a bottle that still had the lid on it - grrrr!!
- I am totally committed to not only make the most of this opportunity but to steadfastly support all others that are dedicated enough to train through these dark cold nights and mornings to reach the goal of a spring marathon. I am addicted to 'challenges' and have run two marathons, climbed Kilimanjaro and, so far, have raised almost £10,000 for good causes in my 30 short years
- I have broken my hand, incurred a nasty infected knee and lost 2 (almost 3) of my toe nails in pursuit of my running goals and I am still pounding the streets and trails (albeit a little more carefully). This is commitment - particularly if you understand the level of affection I hold for amazing shoes (that have now been resigned to the back of the wardrobe pending recovery of the feet).
PLUS...
- I am ginger - if you didn't feel sorry for me with point 1, I am hoping I might get your sympathy vote now
- I run with an awesome running group - Cocks Moors Woods Ladies - great company, fantastic runners and the BEST name for a running group this side of the M5, if not, across the UK.
- I have an amazing Border Terrier called Reg who occasionally joins me on my runs and will be a regular feature of my blog posts. Now for the shameless cute picture to get your vote:
If this doesn't grab your heart nothing will!*
*unless of course you are a hardcore dedicated runner who dislikes dogs with a passion. In that case, please refer to point 1 above and I am sure that will pull on your heartstrings.
PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!!!
Thanks very much!

LJ - Congrats on being shortlisted. You seem to have bags of enthusiasm which is great. What kind of training did you do for your PB marathon?
Thanks SBD!
Less that London!! I trained 4 times a week for London (but think I was guilty of adding in some junk miles - it was my first marathon and I felt I just needed to keep up the runs).
Ran Chester in Oct on 3 runs a week - 1 tempo run, 1 mid length run with my club and then a long run on a Sat. Plus, plenty of long walks with Reg! I think it helped that the pressure was off for this one and I totally suprised myself PB wise. I want to train smarter for the next one though and do more speed work and def some more strength work.
I trained alone for London and with my group for Chester. Running with the support and company of others def made it easier and more enjoyable!!
I know - I knew we were 'special' x
OMG - what a day!!! Today I have wrestled with the following:
However, all of this was bearable as it is Weds. On a Weds, I run with my fabulous running group; a chance to destress, download on our respective weeks and look forward to plans for our Sat run. Perfect - just what I needed! Except, as I discovered when I returned to my car with *just* enough time to get to running, I decided that at 7.45am this morning that I would leave my lights on ALL day. Aaaaaahh!!
Cue..flat battery, long (hungry) wait in the cold, desperate calls to N to work out how I could get home, abandoned vehicle (RAC wait of 3 hours was not appealing) followed by...
...a good friend coming to my rescue, a lovely stir fry cooked by N on my return home, a fabulously warm welcome from Reg and a few sympathetic texts from my running group. Time enough to count my blessings and focus on tomorrow when I will fit in the missing run from tonight!
Tomorrow is another day and one that will hopefully be full of votes...http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/competitions/win-our-christmas-gift-guide-/374.html as well as a run, a long walk to work and a xmas lunch so I promise a cheerier post xxx
Oh D, if only it was that simple. That takes preparation - bringing in stuff to wear, shower with, breakfast etc. One day I will nail this process! However, the hour walk to work was refreshing and I still have a run to look forward to later
So the run was good. Really good in fact! Check out - http://wp.me/p22JmQ-D and then please vote for me!!

Thanks!
The weekend is here - hoorah!!
Anyone else missing Friday 'Running School'?! http://ladeyjadey.wordpress.com/

Great long run this morning with my running group. Just over 13 miles mainly on the canal and rea valley route. Cruel beauty to this morning - perfect frosted roofs and clear blue skies combined with slippy pavements and some cheeky ice patches - be careful out there today guys!! Best bit of all was that I managed to negotiate a Christmas tree from a seller at the side of the road on the run home. Running offers so many benefits!! Now I don't have to spend tomorrow braving Christmas tree crowds and I can make the house all nice and festive for the time N gets back from rugby.
Happy (crispy and Christmassy) December weekend to you all!
Just been reflecting on the importance of support - both giving and receiving...http://ladeyjadey.wordpress.com/

I made a committment to myself to blog everyday about my running during the week the votes were open. I have really enjoyed the process and will definitely be keeping it up. Here's day 7's thoughts - http://wp.me/p22JmQ-13
GOOD LUCK to all of the ASICS 26.2 contenders. Some great people up for this (and lots that aren't in the running).

I think you'll find that it's not an opinion,

but a question
D, the irony is that I have already done it alone!! I ran London this year by myself (training and the race)and finished in, what I feel, was a respectable time of 4:12:34. I then decided to keep up my running and supported my group in their summer training for Berlin. After this I decided to 'test' the training I had done by running Chester in Oct (again, alone) and finished in 4:00:13. I also managed to get a PB in Bham of 1:48.
I am making progress but would love the opportunity to have the advice and support of the Asics team. Whatever happens, my running and drive to push myself will not be affected. Feel free to follow my progress (or not!) - that is totally your call!
I have just found running to be a very supportive environment for me and so will continue to surround myself with people that build me up. If you are one of those people, then feel free to step onboard. If not, no worries at all...
I was at the finish of Chester, taking photos down by the bandstand and around the racecourse...
Nope My season was well over by then. My daughter in laws sister was running, and the organisers are club mates...
Took a load of photos at the start, Then went and had brekkie in the grandstand with IronMin and then wandered around by the river for the finish
Say a big thank you to your team mates - I thought it was brilliantly organised and I enjoyed the run so much more than London (obvs in a totally different way)...and not just because I almost found those 12 mins and 35 secs...
Meetings beckon. Gotta go...
