I'm thinking of entering. it says you need to be on course at all times. what is the need for a tent? how do you eat or sleep. i take it your family watching passes you food and drink and you dont sleep?
Unfortunately, like a lot of races I want to do this year they either clash or are too close to another to do! This is one of them Enjoy it everyone.
Superglue Boots - I have had a think abotu the pairs strategy and personally I think you need to consider your rest time as much as time on your feet. Say you did 1 lap on 1 lap off. You will get one laps worth of rest. Now, will your tiny bit of extra speed outweight the lack of rest? Most likey in the first half. Get into the latter stages of the race and the rest will be much more valuable but you are potentially already in "debt" with your rest. I personally as a pair would sacrifice a little bit of speed early on and go for 2 laps on 2 laps off. You will be on your feet longer each time but you will also get a bit more quality rest. You can take your time stretching, get drink and food in plus have plenty of time to get your kit sorted for your next run out and relax a bit. May not be the perfect method, I have never done 24 hours as a pair before but those are my thoughts on it.
Cheers WiB, i was thinking the exact same thing about maybe 2 on, 2 off.
I'm getting a lot better about pacing and running conservatively, so will go off slowly early on def.
I'm doing the UTSW100 the month before, so training for that, then doing this off the back of the fitness gained from that training, well that's the plan anyway. I should be in good shape for it and i will know what it'll be like to go for 24hrs+
Just worried about getting stiff or cramp later on between starting and stopping.
Superglue Boots - they have massage therapists there. If you are a solo you can get your name put down on a list so you don't spend so much time waiting.
Really looking forward to this one The Malvern Joggers had 2 teams in it last year and it was the BEST event of the year bar none ! hoping to have 4/5 teams in this year !

This race is absolutely fantastic...I have been every year since it started and it keeps getting better. Looking forward to the 2012 weekend.
Runners Forum team is in too.
my wife and I are in and yes it looks like I will be doing twice as many laps as she is planning on doing!!!
hope my legs are up to it!!!
I'm in too!
Definitely not doing it as a pair though.
So people camp out, sleep, then swap over?

I`m a soloist - eating & drinking every lap is in my race strategy.
And I`m not going to put a chair outside my tent.
Less than 46 days til this epic event. Is everyone else feeling like me about the event (nervous, excited and really up for the challenge)?
I am part of a team of 8 from the South West looking to do well and maybe beat the record number of laps completed.......
We might go for record number of slices perhaps.
The catering tent has good cake.......
Fit-Running-Cat, i also love cake and i might be tempted to eat a slice or three, especially if its fruit cake!...good luck having fun!!
