Find local running specialists shops in your area and phone up and ask if they have a machine. My shop has a machine but the guys in there don't use it most of the time. There is a fair chance they'll watch you walk away from and toward them first and make a call from there.
Be assured, they will get you into the correct shoe, just be aware that you may not like the colour as the manufacturers only make 2, perhaps 3 colours in one style.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Extra good luck in the marathon, it's a great thing to do.
I had mine analysed at Decathlon in Thurrock earlier but they've got stores all over the place (www.decathlon.co.uk). They put a sensor on my heel and calf which was connected to a waistcoat, I had a choice of walking/jogging down the aisle or running on the treadmill, and he showed me the readout on a monitor afterwards.
I'm not sure how good it is compared to specialist shops and the level of training the Decathlon sales staff receive (probably minimal) but the machine seemed technical enough and it only took about 5 minutes.
one wording of warnin, even in 'specialist' running shops (run for it, etc) is that staff may do gait analysis but are they actually qualified to do so? some might be. Luckily, in Edinburgh im booked in for gait analysis with a professional and its free as she works for scottish institute for sport.
