The full selection of Team GB triathletes will be announced in early June based on performances in the Series, ITU World Cup races and ITU Continental Cup races during the period 1st January 2011 and 31st May 2012 and the 2010, 2011 and 2012 ETU Senior European Championships.
Good luck to her if London 2012 is the plan, I'm not convinced Chrissie would have the run speed to go with the best over a 10km Oly run, but it'd be interesting to see her try
“I’ve given absolutely everything to Ironman over the past five years. However, this year I’ve decided to take a break as I would like to spend more time focusing on other pursuits including dedicating more time to my chosen charities, the publication of my book and more active promotion of the sport in the UK, as well as giving myself the chance to explore and seize new opportunities within triathlon and outside. I feel that I wouldn’t be able to pursue all of these different goals whilst simultaneously dedicating the energy and time needed to compete in Ironman events and treat them with the respect and complete dedication they deserve.
The past five years have been absolutely incredible and I am extremely happy, proud and content with everything that I have achieved in the sport – topping it all off with the race of my life in Kona last year. I have always seen triathlon as a part of my life, rather than the be all and end all, and am looking forward to a little more variety and balance by pursuing other interests, as well as spending more time with my family and friends.

She doesn't seem to do things by half - so her idea of a breather would probably be my idea of incredibly busy.
by "other opportuinities in triathlon" wonder if she means trying for a spot on the Olympic team?
You cant write her off I suppose !
I had the exact same thought when I read it.
Or media? Maybe something for the Olympics?
Definitely not the swim speed either... she did 1:01 in Kona?? Ok I know she had her accident two weeks before but that would surely be miles off?
I imagine it's more along the lines of charity work than further sporting success as has been speculated
The only event she might have had a bit of a case for was the womens's time trial, but at only 29km its a bit short for her.
I'm hoping that she competes in some UK events to raise the sports profile here a little more. I dont think she's raced as a pro in the UK?
I think she's going to the triathlon Show in Esher in early March, maybe she'll say more then?
Sport Relief seems made for her, bet she's big on that.
Just found her statement. She said:
