hi, hopefuly organisors of this race can keep us upto date regards if this event is still going ahead on sunday. Looking at the weather forecast it looks like the weekend will be snow affected.
Also wondering the same thing, they also have a Facebook page so am keeping an eye on that as well. Not too far away here in stoke its fairly bad, but hopefully that forecast rain will come and it can get the go ahead.
According to a message just posted on the Eight Lane forum from the organisers the race is currently on, with rain expected overnight and the roads gritted on the course route.
The snow is still quite thick on the outskirts of Macclesfield (not a million miles from Alsager). Can we have an update this morning to say whether the race is still on?
No official messages that I know of this morning from the organisers. Roads south of Alsager all seem terrible, and we certainly haven't seen the forecast rain.
If I go I'll be leaving around 9.30 but will have a walk down to my main road to see what it looks like. Hopefully in the meantime we'll get official word from someone in the know...
I live in crewe, the main bus routes seem gritted in the town but there hasn't been the thaw forecast also seems to be alot of problems nearby with cars abandoned on A500 etc
I took the dog out for a walk an hour ago and it sealed my decision not to risk heading over
Reading the FB page there appear to be more people NOT running! Surely it is not safe asking people to travel when the sensible thing is to re-arrange? There are a lot of unhappy people out there. Can they do this, even though the police have advised people to only travel if necessary?
just decided not to run...im in stoke so only 15m or so away and the main a53 is clear the paths are 4 inches deep. I was on the hover until the fog started to come in. just isnt worth it.

on eightlane there's a topic of the same nature. of course it may have no snow there but you have to get there

The Alsager 5 does appear to be going ahead however traveling conditions are far from ideal. Please take care if you are heading there
apparently , according to the facebook page, the organisors have told somebody the race is on as alsager is a bit slushy and getting better.
smells of $ over common sense to me

For those that make it and run, good luck
I decided discretion was the better part of valour back in Feb, but I've entered for 2013 - Let's hope it's less snowy in 2013!
After what I thought was poor customer service I shall be staying away from the race!
