On my last two training runs I've managed to miss the path junction for the summit of Moel Arthur: despite having found it with map in hand and making a mental note that it was tricky.
This time I retraced my steps to work out how to avoid doing it again.
The junction comes just after the a stile at the top of the grassy climb up Moel Arthur. The path on the other side rapidly becomes singletrack. Make sure you take the right fork in the track straight away. I think I keep missing it because the gorse has been cut back in that area and the path is right on the edge of the cut section.

Hi Clwydian
Thanks for your route updates - I have just pm'ed you but it looked like it bounced back Can you pls send me the gpx of the course? Many thanks!
was getting a bit worried last week as my fitness seemed to evaporate, but think I was just fighting off some germs (more than likely picked up at school) as I went out for another 20miler on thursday and felt really strong throughout
just entered snowdon race as my next focus after this, to keep me going until what'll be my 4th snowdonia marathon in the autumn...
Thats cool spen been having a bit of trouble with my leg, got all clear today to Same here will take as long as it takes as long as we enjoy it and get round that will do me
I've been reading the thread here for some time now, in addition to the one on the Fellrunner forum and think that you all sound very fit compared to me and my team mate! We're looking to jog/walk on the day.
Re. finding the path to Moel Arthur after the uphill section from Penycloddiau car park - it can be difficult to spot, but I seem to remember that at the top of the steep uphill bit you go over two stiles and the path is about 50m after the second stile on the boundary of some heather/gorse. It's quite narrow and almost looks like a peaty sheep track.
Best of luck to all who are doing this event - I'm really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed for reasonable weather - it will be hard work on the ridge if it's windy on the day!
This week I have completed 2 short training runs without any pain in my knee. I will be going for a longer run in the hills Sunday and if I get through that ok I am back in the event. Fingers crossed...
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm starting my taper with a marathon tomorrow and another on Sunday at the Gin Pit Double Trouble. It's a bit like doing your revision on the bus omn the morning of the exam...
Well I went for a run today and all was going great until about 3 or 4 miles in and my knee went again. Sharp pain mainly on outside of my left knee and knee is clicking when I walk more than ever now.
Gutted i'm out of the event now and will have to see a specialist.
Good luck to all competitors. I will be there to support my mate who is running and all other competitors
Is there a list of essential kit we need to carry. Will be carrying a lightweight version of the kit I normally carry in the mountains anyway (map, compass, waterproof, etc) but wondered if there was anything specific or compulsary ?

Bad news Peers. I'm sorry you won't make it but, of course, you are doing the right thing.
Good luck with your recovery.
Getting close now...
