What: 90 minutes on the bike in the fog - Hill Work d&d Gym (LEGS) !!! Running(maybe) Turbo Why: getting it done Last hard: today Last rest: Wednesday 15th Feb Lyrics: No
very very foggy when I left home this morning, couldnt see the other side of the road walking to the train... what - either 6 tempo, or if i get away sharpish...club night!
lyric , think I should know these...still pondering!
MadameO - I have only entered one of those races at the moment, but I think that the only one that may get knocked on the head is Liverpool on 1st July. So yes, a busy schedule but I'm one of those that needs something to focus on! And yes, loving being a dad!! 3rd time for me but Mrs AH's first. My elder 2 are 11 and 13 now, so it all feels very new again!
MadO - I believe that the TM is great for speedwork.(although on a measured track is always better of course). I know most don't agree but it does the trick and can keep it more structured. Is it VLM your'e doing?
Emzap - enjoy Belly and hope review is good.
Ale thanks for the link - now i know - I might do those with Mrs PM ;-0
Holiday weekend here tomorrow and training schedule needs to be juggled. Might have to do weekend long run tomorrow evening (i get off work early). This will enable me to take the kids to the St Paddy Parade on Sat - Its either that or get out at Birkmyre time on Sat Morning.!! Big Green hats included!! Cant really do it Sunday as to disappear for three hours and come back exhausted on Mrs PM's Birthday and Mother's day would not be good!!!
Paddy - that would indeed be a doghouse double whammy if you were to disappear on Sunday!! Yes, it is the VLM I'm doing. G and I are going down early on Saturday morning to go to the expo, and staying for two nights - visiting my favourite dress shop on Monday to reward/commiserate myself, depending on race time Whereabouts are you staying?
As for the treadie, most runners I speak to are horrified that I do my speedwork on it, because it does the work for me in keeping the pace... which is true I suppose, but when I'm having difficulty maintaining a constant pace it can help to be forced into it by flashing red numbers and a moving belt. As I get fitter it'll help get me out of the rut I feel stuck in.
A more general observation, that sort of ties in - I've noticed that a lot of advice, whether running-related or other, tends to be very focused on 'ideal' scenarios. This is probably why a lot of people find it so hard to make positive changes; they don't feel in a position to do it completely, so they wait until they feel they can... and that time never comes. Over the last few months I've taken a more gradual approach to sorting my life out (training, finances, diet) and it's really helping.
What: 8-10 miles easy
Why: Midweek long run shifted over a bit
Last hard: Yesterday's session on the Treadmill of Doom
You sound really "picked up" now emzap, between the thrill of "The Olympics", Belfast and promotion to boot, congratulations.
Hello alex_h, we haven't met, I'm Des.
Some pretty deep thoughts there MadameO, the treadmill has changed my life.
Thanks for clearing up yassoos and lassoos Dustin, I thought it odd myself but thank you for the explanation Paddy. I won't be trying them out until back home, it sounds a good theory and I need a tester. Happy St Patricks Day and "Good luck t'ya!"
Hope you have something special planned for Sunday Wabo, besides it being Mother's Day as well.
Sorry to read about all your fog, the weather here is glorious. Things have picked in the gym this last week as well, The Captain himself was rumoured to be seen on the TM one early morning. I've lent a couple of RW mags around and am just now seeing some reaction.
Hill session for me today, 10 mins warm up, 12 x 500m at 12% incline @ 12km/hr, 12 x 500m recoveries at 2% incline, 13 km/hr. 15km total, 75 mins.
Hi Des, I'm the guy who started training really hard and properly after his marathon last year! Then stopped in about August, when my wife was heavily pregnant and could no longer help with dog walking etc. After a hiatus until now and putting a stone back on...I'm back, only to be laid low with sinusitis this week.
Therefore, today's update is
What: nothing Why: Thought about swimming but no public session in my local on a Thursday night! Last hard: hahaha Last rest: this week!
