Evening All! Looks like swimming's coming on for everyone! I've got a slow jaunt around Berkshire tomorrow. Starting at 6am I've got 135 miles to do! Gulp! Only ever done 56 before! Lots of cake stops planned though! Then LEJOG starts on Thursday! <wibble>
Give us an Aaaghh as you pass then Cat. I'll be in my Pirate gear and doing the Ferret thing, looking after the rear as, apparently, I've more experience than the other 8 riders!! That really isn't saying much is it?!! I've been very lucky with the LEJOG planning. We've had some incredible support from companies. Three cycle tops donated, free days bike maintenance course. Support minibuses and fuel cards to go with them. £1500's worth of nutrition for during and at the end of each day and another company has sponsored our hotel accommodation! So, it's only our food to look after! But, because the route was worked out as hotel to hotel it's the most direct route to each hotel. Which, in turn, means the route's a bit 'lumpy'! 7000 feet of climbing in day two, as we go straight over Dartmoor! Still, it should get me fit for Outlaw! Good luck with your ride Cat. Pirate LEJOG ride sounds good! I know Madge wants to do it one day too! She's doing Bristol to London over a weekend in May! Seren, I'm waiting 'till I return to start the swimming! Far too cold for me, even with the blubber I have!
Jeez, only started cycling last June to lose gut & stay off the fags.
First Triathlon next week & now after reading Holgs book & this thread i've got doing an Ironman in my head now.
I ran walked a marathon in 2006 @ 16 stone. Took 6 hours. Pretty sure i could do it in 5 hours now.
I can probably do the 112 cycle in 7-8 hours
I'm very bad at swimming, a breastroker at the minute but can just keep going so could complete the distance. Would probably take me 2-2.30 hours though.
I am trying to learn front crawl but nearly die after 50metres.
What would a general cut off time be for the swim stage please?
Obviously putting all these disciplines together would probably scupper me at the moment.
Siggy has texted (quite a while ago) to say he'd passed the 106 miles, his arse hurts, he's met the mayor and had his picture taken ??? (someone obviously has an odd fetish)
I'm waiting to hear that he's finished but it wouldn't surprise me to hear nothing whilst he's 'socialising' !!
Also on a positive note..... but not quite so impressive, I had a proper bike fit last week, which was great. He changed loads, well just about everything actually. And as soon as I "fessed up" that I was training for Outlaw, he persuaded me to put some clip on tribars on my road bike.
I managed to have a bit of a go with the bars at the weekend, and hurray, I didn't fall off. I was surprised how stable I actually felt, not too wobbly at all.
Thats a big positiive bburn. I loved my bike fit - it made a big difference. Well done. I'm still getting used to tri bars. Not used them for the last few weeks so thanks for reminding me to get back on them again.
Put mine on reluctantly at the weekend and really chuffed. Don't want to tempt fate but seemed to get the hang of them and even attempted a couple of gentle corners. They do put more pressure through my less padded lady areas...... need to toughen up.

The Longest Day from Dorney. But the shorter (90km) one.
Enjoy the Audax. Do you still have to maintain a given speed for those?
Erm ......I'm not planning on any speed Cat but there is a 110k route as well so I should be okay and there are a group of us doing it together.
Longest day looks a bit bumpy - good luck.
And you Soupy.
Have just washed the PBS in readiness for tomorrow. Shiny bare aluminium.

i swam in the river today........it was cold
Have a great time Siggy. I'd love to do that one day. Perhaps a Pirate outing?????
Siggy, have a great day out, my day also starts early at 06:30.
I hope you draw loads of confidence from the day to send you off on LEJOG in great fettle.

Thanks, great thread btw.
Anyway, with a 7-8 hour bike and a 6 hour marathon, you are clearly a speed freak....LOL.
Speed freak, lol, not been called that before. Well, not the 'Speed' part anyway.
I''ve wound up entering the club relay triathlons this year & i was referred to as an athlete the other day, thought that was funny?
Hopefully by next year my front crawl will have got better as well.

Still waiting to hear...
I've texted him to tell him all about the roast dinner he's missing just to help him along
I *don't* recommend cold baths after long days in the saddle!!! Someone blow up the beach ring please!!
Well done Siggy. The Prince meets the Mayor eh?
Wow, well done on that ride.

I loved it too. The whole thing just feels right now, did a 3hr ride with no issues at all, and I was a tad faster than usual.
My OH says I look like I'm in a much better position on the bike, not quite sure what he means, perhaps I looked really wonky before
+1 on the tri bars.

Are Adamo the 2 pronged looking saddles?
I have a TT saddle with a softer 'nose', not as soft as I would like though!
