It is risky to enter a marathon a whole year in advance, especially if it is your first. I don't know what I am doing next week or how I'll be feeling, let alone next year! But I have done so as Brighton seemed from all of you so great. Hope I will feel the same this time next year
I haven't run this year's spring marathon yet, but I've been overcome with taper madness and entered this for 2013. I must remember to shred the credit card bill before the missus sees it
Paid up guys....will also put into the London ballot just on the off chance I get in...although quite excited about Brighton to be honest. This will be my first marathon and will need LOTS of support just to get round never mind going super fast. Have a 10k next month and a hm in October so going to build up slowly.
ho hum - retirement from marathon running has been put on hold (again). me and Petal (my wife) have entered. I forecast an enjoyable bimble rather than a eyeballs out race to celebrate our bus pass year
Can't believe how much I'm looking forward to this only 2 days after the race! Insanity. 3rd time running and I do believe that Sunday was the best yet.
I have the Manchester Marathon to run on the 29th and I think it's going to be a huge disappointment in terms of atmosphere compared to the electricity of Brighton. I hope to be pleasantly surprised on the day.
Good to see some many familiar names signed up already.
Having done Brighton Last year and again this year was planning on doing something different next year but after the total devestation of having to pull out at mile 12 this year ,I just had to enter it again
feeling a bit more positive now and maybe I should not have tried running when I had a cold all week but I was told that if it is in your head it was okay
I am going to make sure next year that if anyone has a cold they stay away from me
heres to 2013 and a sub 4.30 maybe even faster now I have joined a running club
Trigger2 and Toby3 I did the GnR for the first time last year. It's an amazing experience. You should go along not expecting a PB as it's a truly massive race and can be diffficult to overtake. It's just one huge sea of runners the whole way round. Be prepared for a long slightly uphill incline along the John Reid Road as I noticed that a lot of people started to have their energy zapped by it.
The atmosphere is pretty amazing too. I will be running again this year. Both years I got in via the ballot!
It's good to see that some of us keep coming back for more, 2013 will be my 4th Brighton Marathon so I'm officially and member of the unofficial Ever Present club.
Trigger2 - I'm doing the Royal Parks half too! Totally looking forward to this one but it will probably a 'once only' event for me as both the GNR & Royal Parks are quite expensive for a 'half'. Probably won't sign up for the GNR again either as there are loads of autumn half maras in the south/southeast I would like to try.
Hah! Can't believe how popular the 2013 thread is already. Congratulations to all those who completed on Sunday. A great achievement and Brighton is a lovely place to run.
Got my deferral code emailed to me this morning, very prompt of the organisers. Haven't signed up yet and have until 15 June to decide one way or another
Anne - I think it's just an idea the organisers are considering. There's a question during registration about how much you'd be willing to pay for dedicated spectator areas with shelter/amenities.

Jolyon Bland email says first 2000 entries £45, next 9000 £55 last 2000 £65
Wooohooo, now a paid up member for 2013.
The training starts now... Ok, maybe in a day or 2 when my feet are up to it.
I thought £45 was quite steep, wouldn't want to pay more!
Have just entered! Will start thinking about training nearer the end of the year - have GNR and Royal Parks HMs before then.
haha B - join the club! you dragging K along???
Jol - make sure you sign up. Need a running partner again

Count me in for next year! I registered on the website this morning

It was a shame that yesterday's 'grand stand' seating wasn't being used.
What's this about spectator areas/amenities for next year?

I've got an expo code too so I'll register in the next day or so. Hopefully I've managed to convince a few mates to do it as well.
BTW can anyone from Brighton recommend a good running club to join? I've seen there are a few out in the area. I think I may be addicted now.
