I have a friend coming to stay, I'm picking her up from the airport early in the morning then we're gonna drink tea and play Monopoly (her suggestion) we're off to London to meet a load of other crazy people on Sunday
I'm really nervous I don't know how I'll cope with having her in the house, or going to London ... to be honest I'll be really relieved when it's all over.
(((Ben-o))) so thrilled for you, hope it sinks in over the weekend
Ooo by eck that's fab, so excited for you ... you've kept the taper madness quiet
How are you feeling darling?
As you can see from the first few pages of this thread I was absolutely petrified before mine but it was really easy once I got to the start line. I grinned so much some spectators who moved around the course knew me as 'smiley girl'
I'm hoping to be so smiley all the way round. I still can't believe i'll be doing it. Bimbling around town this morning was really strange. 3 miles feels like cheating. Think I'm more likely to be drowned rat girl looking at the forecast
*wakes beebs up for a quick drunken snog and sniggers at the rude word*
J is indeed v handsome, between the two of you I can see how you made beautiful babies ... but I still have to say those kids are just stunning - surely they aren't real. I think you've photoshopped them!!
By 'eck I'm sure you will be that smiley, it's so weird the actual race isn't as hard as you imagine. All those horrible training runs when you didn't wanna go are sooooo much harder than the actual marathon. Can't wait to hear how it goes
I genuinely am quite excited we have a marathon in the air. Beebs and I were just saying today how it's easy to forget what an amazing achievement it is when you're hanging around the forums cos it seems like everyone else throws one out before breakfast but in the big bad world it's incredible. Most people can't even imagine doing one, you'll be a hero!!
Hey! You wrote what?! That's filthy! At least your spelling's good!
Yeah, I totally agree. The actual race itself is quite enjoyable because you're doing what you've trained for so long to do. It is really tough (particularly miles 18-24 I found) but just absorb the support of the crowd and use it to keep going. Good luck By Eck, I'm sure you'll do brilliantly!
I hope this weekend goes well for you SOLB. I find it really stressful having visitors, I always feel really pressurised. It's easy to caught up in worrying (and worrying about worrying), sometimes I find it helpful just to remind myself that everything will be ok. And it will SOLB, I'm sure you'll have a fab weekend!
how are you feeling today? Hope you're taking it easy
After all my moaning about having to pick my friend up from the airport so early she has missed the plane (forgot her passport) so I now don't need to pick her up til 3 anyway - another cup of tea anyone?
Ladies, you don't have to fight over me. Believe me, I'm man enough for both of you.
Tis a pity Mick hasn't come back yet, I trust he will.
I presume you're carbo loading now By Eck which means eat anything and everything you want, guilt-free. Pro-athletes often consume about 4-5 chocolate bars about 12-24 hours before an event. I may have made some of the details up there, but I think the jist of it is right.
I did indeed *displays cage full of captured zzz's*
I'm pacmanning like a pro, bet you are all so proud of me.
I am also just about to drink my body weight in coffee and go and clean the car out in the rain (my house may be tidy but my car would put the Grouch off)
*grabs Mr P and grins cheekily* Car and house clean, SOLB looking very scruffy but in the right place at the right time ... eeek traffic warden *hides* Ben-o has the relief arrived yet?
