OK having though about it I might manage to help you out, but I'm not going to be either fast or be able to do many laps; 2 maybe 3 at a push! I'll basically be walking the downhill bits and slow on the uphill & flat bits!
Well I quite enjoy doing 24 hour mountainbike races, but I can't take part in my favourite this year since it is the weekend before Outlaw! This looks a good way to scratch my 24hr itch this year!
Did this in 2010. Fantastic race and a phenomenal atmosphere. Cool T-Shirts too. I'll be at Box Hill for the Olympic road races, but have fun... I'm tempted to go solo next year!
Fantastic. Little Sis and RafikiD you're in. It's a key point that speed is NOT the focus of the event. We're doing it for a bit of a giggle so no pressure on us to win it.
Just for FYI I saw a post on the Thunder Run FB page saying they are closing entries this weekend so if you're going to enter you may need to do it quickly.
Fiddle just phoned Q and he's not got the cash for the entry and I don't have much ever with other races entered this pay day. Might be just one team in this year. If I'm not doing it which looks like it is unless I can't go for some reason (lots of stuff on in cake world) I'll pop over and shout abuse at you guys I'm only up the road and it's a nice bike ride.
Happychap - I'm happy to enter us as a team and wack it all on plastic for the time being - its £230 for a team of five. I'll need to know t-shirt sizes and a team name......
I went down for this last year, but promptly snapped my ankle almost as soon as I got there after jumping over my tent's guy rope. I'd only been there about half an hour after a 3.5 hour drive and it was game over . My OH had to drive down for me the next day as I was in too much pain to hang around (plus hobbling to the portaloos got unbearable very fast!)
I've entered this year, but don't have a lift down this time, so I'm hoping that National Express go somewhere near it.
I'm really excited ... it looked so much fun last year, I was gutted I wasn't able to be part of it.
Thank you for the info about local buses and trains. But I mentioned my predicament to my OH last night, and he's actually agreed to drive me down there. He's said he'll just stay in the tent all weekend (he's not a runner) but I think I'm going to try and book him into a B&B nearby as a thank you so he can at least have some home comforts (toilet and telly) whilst I'm slogging my guts out.
I'm really excited now ... was sooooo disappointed when I went over on my ankle last year, so this year I'm keeping everything crossed that I don't do myself a mischief this year until I've finished running.

I'm up for it if you don't mind a newbie coming along - be good practice for ExtrvaLanza!!
Not a hope in "£#] of me taking part, but since it isn't too far from me I'm happy to come along as sherpa/ support crew if you want!

Oh I wish ... that's my birthday, camping in the Forest of Dean. Maybe next year!

If any use there are regular local bus's and trains to round there from sheffield and manchester.
