PSOF Championships (UK) will be Challenge Henley 2013
with the Extraordinary PSOF Championships (international) being IM Lanza 2013
Will get the thread title changed and there is no specific rush to enter Henley so once this years race is over and done with we can negotitate our discount!
I told you she'd choose. Meeting of minds my arse.
Would love to do IM Lanza but I got 'The Look' when I suggested it. Not in kids holidays, bloody long way to go (although in reality little extra travel time compared to Southern Germany), and cost. Not sure the risk/reward balance is there.
Vichy I would get away with and Henley would be easy peasy for permission. Although it is likely to give me an issue with a 50 miler I do in September but hey ho can't do everything. Although the European IM theme is appealing.

I do have to say that I like the look of Sweden, the swim looks different, the bike course looks great, the run looks very complicated. Beer is very expensive in Sweden

One thing you can say about Ironman Sweden, the swim would definitely be Baltic!!
I'm thinking about doing Sweden next year. When I say 'thinking' what I really mean is I'm really excited/scared by the challenge but can't turn down that desire to challenge myself, so I will be doing Sweden next year. . . . . . I'm just not quite ready to accept it yet. . . . . . or tell my wife.

Top tip if someone drives there we could all get in the order's and get then to pop over the border and pick up some takeouts. Might have to invovle a ferry.
I'm not participating in IM in 2013 (think I said that for 2012 as well though!), but may well pop along to Henley and support if there's a pirate ship sailing down the Thames, I didn't think it was as difficult a course as people make out though, there is some climbing involved but it's only really 2 hills per lap and there are plenty of quick sections for the bike. I think the run was reasonably doable as well, although to be fair I can't remember a big chunk of it having messed up on my nutrtition.
2014 both IM Sweden (despite the price of the ale) and Vichy look good to me, (particularly as my in-laws are moving to France later in the year!)

Glad Meldy has got it all sorted.

Personally id like to see us get back to a full Ironman in 2014 if we're doing UK/non Ironman for the pirate champs in 2013.
Sweden would be top of my list for 2014 as its the only European Ironman the pirate ship hasnt sailed to yet.
Barley - stop micromanaging your life. You'll need a spreadsheet soon to keep up with it all.
yay sweden...
I have so many minds they need a commitee meeting of their own
*This delightful upgrade now wont let me post underneath a quote!
like all things.nothing happens at all unless someone makes a decsicion...........
i would like to retire in 3 weeks time but i feel that is not an option

Seren i distinctly remember you saying at Bala in 2010 that you were never doing an IM again, and look where that got you
I didn't do one at all 2010........not sure what went wrong.................

one thing's for sure - Sweden would be a PB course for many - it's as flat as a pancake - rises to 50m above sea level at most!!!
the other thing's for sure - it won't be cheap when you're there!!
Sweden ..hmmm I do like the sounds of that ....2014 ...hmm
I paid £11 for a pint of guinness last Jan in Stockholm, and all the taxis have chip & pin machines cos the fares are so expensive....
A bit like Henley then, Dave???
Sweden interests me, I missed the discusion on next year's Lanza, is it full?

Lanza 2013 is the nominated international IM, it's only just opened and there's a separate thread for it.

Cake, follow the Thames West from London, it's about 30 miles out from central London.
Henley-on-Thames, my dear old thing. Home to rowing regattas, business schools and the poshest picnics in the land. Nice spot.
And Jaffa... you did say that about 2012. I distinctly remember it, so well done on dusting off your swimming goggles after all, mate.
